Default POSTING Pics How 2

Hi all!! I know this is a subject that needs to be addressed, so, I thought I would try to help anyone having trouble getting pics posted to this forum.
So, here we go!!
Contrary to popular belief, its really pretty simple. The one thing that seems to get everyone is that ALL images seen on the web MUST be "hosted" somewhere on the web. In other words, you cant use a pic that still resides on your systems harddrive..it must be uploaded to a web server to be seen in browsers.
If you have a website, then you already know what I mean and you have your pics on the web, if not, please see the last pic on this page for info on using the attachments in this forum.

For posting pics hosted on the web already, the first thing is getting the correct URL address to the pic you want to post. If you already know the URL, then you wont need to use the next couple of steps. However, if you need an easy way to get a URL to a pic, this is great!!

First find a pic... You can go to the webpage that the pic is on, and for this how 2, we will say the pic we want is the Airbrush Mag banner...but, this method works on any image on the web that is not copyright protected. On the image itself, hover your cursor over it, then right click your mouse. A menu window will appear with several options, but, for this operation we want to choose "Properties"

Another window will open with several bits of info about the image. What we want now is to look at the "Address URL". Place your cursor at the end of this address...hold down the left mouse button and drag to the left...this will highlight the URL....when the complete address is hightlighted, release your mouse button. It should look something like this.

With the URL still highlighted, place your cursor over the highlighted area and right click. A menu window will pop up then choose "Copy". Then click OK to close this window.

Now this URL address is stored in your windows "clipboard" and its just a matter of "pasting" this info in the right place on the forum post you are doing. This forum has some really great tools that make things pretty easy.
Now just find a subject and reply to it....or start a new thread, either way, the Reply or Post page will appear. Then look on the toolbar above the Message Box for a button that says "IMG"...click on that and a small Prompt Window will appear.

In the box for the url, place your cursor anywhere inside the WHITE area and right click, a drop down menu will appear, choose "paste" and the url address you copied earlier will now be in the box.

Click OK and your done!!! Just add what description you would like and when your finished, just hit the Submit Post button and your image should be in your post!!!

----------------------
ATTACH FILES Method
----------------------

Now if you have a pic on your hard drive that you would like to share, you can use the Attach File option.
Click the Browse button, locate and select the image on your system, then click ok. When you submit your post, the image will be uploaded and appear under any text you may have in the post.
NOTE....Using the Attach File option, your image will not appear in a Post Preview, but, will be there after submiting the post.

Hope that this helps, but, feel free to ask if you have any questions!!!!

Default Posting pics from your Gallery

Always happy to help Don! I would have done this sooner, but, just noticed the how 2 I did for the other forum was not here....so I figured I would do a new one!!

How to post pics from a Member Gallery into a forum post.....ask and ye shall receive!! LOL!!

Its really almost the same procedure.
First of all, go to the Members Gallery and find your personal folder. Find a pic you want to post...for this exercise...I am going to "pick on" ABkid's gallery and get the Spidey R/C pic because I really like that one!!

Double click the Thumbnail pic to open a larger image...

NOTE:
Depending on the original size of the image you have uploaded in your gallery, you may have three different versions of each image available in the Gallery...(1) a small thumbnail size, (2) a medium size, and (3) the full size image that you uploaded...double clicking any one of these pics will load the next larger version, if available.
While it is fine to have the full resolution image in your gallery in the event someone wants to see the larger image, PLEASE do not post the LARGER size pics in your posts. You may have noticed some of these pics that seem to need a second monitor hooked to your system because of how they stretch across the screen and if so, you know it really makes the text of all the posts in that thread stretched out. Plus, if you do not happen to have a high speed connection, the time to load the page will be very slow....so please, just use the medium size pic that loads when you double click on a thumbnail image...the URL of the medium pics will have "med" at the end, just before " .JPG " and just after the file's name...whereas the full resolution pics will not have anything between the name and JPG.

Ok, the next two steps are pretty much the same as described in my first post....

Quote:
look closely at the URL in this next pic....you should be able to see the "med" at the end as mentioned in the above note.

From here, just follow the same steps as described in my first post to get the URL you have copied to your clipboard into your post.

Hope that helps!!!
