what is the different between foam rubber and sponges ? if the foam soak up the paint, it may not be flexible enough to protect the radio but apply a light coat of paint and give the paint enough time to dry before you apply the second coat

Cool.

I'm outta my element on this one, so I can't offer any input but I'm interested in the info.

Best of luck!

Is it urethane foam like a nerf football or like the spray foam you get at building stores?

Use a test piece first. Also more likely then not you will need a primer/sealer or it's just going to soak up the paint like water. Different based sealers and primers will effect the foam differently. Some might even melt it, make it put off poisonous fumes??? Use a test piece first! Be smart not sorry.

I recommended that you try a primer and a base coat on a practice piece of foam and post your results here for the other members . are you in a hurry to paint this [ for a deadline ] I hope that you stick to water based paint and good luck

Is there any way you can post a picture of the foam. I only ask to be better able to identify it. There are a ton of high density foams all made from different materials. Some are closed cell and some are open cell. I know a few tricks so the paint isn't absorbed by the foam but need to be sure of what the foam is made of.

Default Re: foam rubber painting

I'd be careful to make sure that any airflow that the operation of the unit requires is not restricted.

The density of the foam may be required to ba as it is to allow cooling of whats in it.

I don't know much about RC but I've screwed up enough things over the years that I have a tendency to ask this kind of questions.

My first thought is fabric suitable paint.

Good luck
