I TOOK THE LID OFF SLIDE THE DAM ENGINE PART OUT AND SLIDE IT BACK IN AND STOOD ON THE LID TO SEAL IT WHILE I SCREWED IT DOWN,,TAKING ME LIKE A THOUSAND HOURS,,NOW IT CLICKS ON AND CLICKS RIGHT OFF,,
Hey X. Im no compresser guru, but I had a smiliar problem with my sil and it was a short in the system? What ever the hell that is. Bottom line, I had to bring it to a REAL compressor place and the had to replace a sensor or something. Mine was fried and always shut off. They said that the sensor was beat and had to be replaced. bout $80 to fix. sorry but thats all I got.
Hope all is well with you.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO,,,,,,,,,,,,,PLEASE DONT TELL ME THAT,,IT JUST HAPPENS LIKE THAT,,NOOOOOOOOOO,,I CANT HAVE THAT HAPPEN,,IT CANT BE,,IT WAS JUST WORKING FINE,,
Ok Nat, I've looked online and found an exploded view and it doesn't help alot. One question.... when you took it apart did the motor cover spring out when you removed the screws? The reason I ask is you stated that you had to force it back together which leads me to believe that something isn't lined up right and its binding and tripping out on the Thermal Overload since the motor is trying to run but can't... as much as I hate to say this, you might want to take it apart again.... it shouldn't be so hard to put back together.
Here is the link to the exploded view: http://www.silentaire.com/silentaire...t%20Manual.pdf
I'll be here awhile longer to try to help.... I just wish I had the same compressor cause it would be easier having one here.
Cliff
Not sure what the problem is. did you put it back in the same way you took it out? Could be a lose connection. Any of the oil split on to the connections? Could be a blown fuss. You might have to wait for the tech guys. It's possible the switch went bad also. Just guessing. I don't think it's any thing major, seems it was functioning before you took it apart Nat. Sorry i could not help.
Just a thought Nat. Is it possible to try running it with the lid off ? If possible and it runs that way, you no doubt have something aligned wrong.... Before you try, make sure that lid is just that ..... a lid! IF not, it could be dangerous to try!
Cliff
well how do i know if the lid is just a lid,,the guy said i cant run it without the lid on cause oil would shoot out of it? thats what the closed tight lid and gasket prevents he said,,?
nat i have a lil experiance with compressors not ab compressors but the loud kind . lol not funny . any way i dont think anything major is wrong . i just think like the cdv said somthing isnt lining up or you have a blown relay . in which case unless you have a volt meter you wont know but i dont think the compressor is bad . but i kinda sounds like its binding or somthing . let us know
good point, like I said, I'm not familiar with that compressor. So probably the best move would be to print out that exploded view along with the part number list so when you talk to the techs tomorrow, you can explain everything in detail with the part numbers that you removed. Take a highlighter to the parts list and the exploded view so you will be ready.
Now, for the future how we take apart valve actuators that are spring loaded like it sounds like your compressor case/lid is.... take one of the screws or bolts and buy two or four that ar the same thread BUT a little longer than the ones you removed. Next time you take it apart, take out two screws on opposite sides of the case/lid and replace them with the longer screws. This will keep the lid aligned while you back off the other screws. For installation, the longer screws are used to pull down on the lid until you can start the normal length ones. Pull the normal length ones down tight and then replace the longer ones with the other normal screws.... works like a dream and you don't worry about having to stand on it to put it together.
Good luck tomorrow..... I'll check in to see how things work out.

Nat, I'm so sorry to read this. You said when you took it apart oil went everywhere. If oil somehow got into the part of the compressor that is supposed to compress air the unit will not work. It can not compress a liquid. You could have what is know as a hydraulic lock. The motor will try to run but be stopped by the oil. The cut out or relay will sense an overload and shut it off real quick. It will buzz a little and go click and it's done.
Having said this I'm not at all familiar with this type of compressor so I can't tell you how to check to see if oil went inside where can cause the problem. Can you post some more pictures at different angles so we can more of the unit? I'll try to stay awake for a while if you can get some more pictures. If not I'll look again tomorrow at lunch from work. Hang in there!
bill thanks man,,go to sleep,,cant keep ya up for this,,its just time i have to wait to get a tech on phone or drag it to someone who knows more,,i just have taken all the switch cases open and checking if any wires got loose,,,
i really hope this can be solved,,i dont get how it just stops when there was no problem from beginning,,
I OPENED THE LID UP AND SAW THE SWITCH FELL OFF THE INSIDE OF THE TANK SO I PLACED IT BACK ON,,AND PUT LID ON AND THAN SEALED IT UP AND THAN TURNED IT ON,,AND NOW IT DOESNT EVEN CLICK ON,,NO SOUND NOTHING
AND THAN ALL A SUDDEN SMOKE STARTS POURING OUT THE LID,,,WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON,,I JUST UNPLUGGED IT,,WHAT HAPPENED,,WHAT I DO?
Damn it Nat I cant help you with this one it,s way out of my league all I can do is offer my support from here in Holland and I hope that you get it sorted real quick GOOD LUCK
