Kandy and Auto Air
Rochestercam Rochestercam is offline 11-29-2006

Hey there guys. I know manufacturers are going to say not to mix brands, but I have a job specific question.

I bought the 10 bottle set of HoK Kandies and I have quite a bit of Createx Auto Air Colors. With the HoK being Urethane based and the Auto Air Colors being water based, but said to be compatible with all Urethane Clears, and if the HoK kandies really being a greatly tinted clear (?) -a vendor hear in roch. told me that- Can I do graphics in Auto Air paint, and lay over with HoK Kandies? I'm doing some brain graphics and snake skin, but can't wait for small bottles of paint from California, and the smallest amount of base color from HoK I can buy here is in a quart at about $72..

Your insight into this is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
-RC-

I don't us Auto Air but I believe they say you can use SG100 with Auto Air so Kandy's shouls be fine.

Do a test panel first wouls be my suggestion just to be on the safe side

I was at Kingston Paints, (HoK distributor here in melbourne), yesterday talking to them about the exact same thing, you are spot on about the candys being more of a tint, this makes them a translucent that enables their perfect use for the "True Fire" system.
So long as you allow ample drying/setting time before you throw a coat of the tinted SG100 on top of the acrylic or you could experience a nasty colour bleed through

good luck

Hey rowie, kingston paints is where i bought my custom micron-C and my LPH-50 just before i moved away.
I forgot the owners name (the missus) but she was telling me all about how she started an airbrush course and loved it ever since. Do they still have the airbrushed portraits in their hallway entrance? I was impressed by them.
Sorry to get away from the topic.

but yes, June still has all the pictures hanging about the place, She just came back from SEMA and some of the other HUGE US car shows with heaps of goodies.
She is such a lovely person, I get all my stuff from there now.
