Smile Newby here

Hi, newby here.....lol Just started ABing. This is just a test t-shirt that I thought I would give a try after many days of just practicing doing the dager strokes and dots. Just had to give this a try. It's my logo dog for my mobile grooming business. I'm happy with, but know I can get better. And also need to learn how to do letting.

Would welcome any suggestions on how to improve.

OK hope this works, first time uploading a pic in this site.

Pretty cool little guy
As for how to improve? Your on the right track with lots of practice, practice and practice. It shows that you've been doing it already so just keep it up (no matter how boring it gets). As for lettering, I still have to cut stencils instead of freehanding So someone else will have to chime in on that....................................Kwit

Thanks Kwit, yeah I thought of stencils. But I do want to learn to freehand. I stenciled the black outline of the mutt. But the rest I did freehand. But your right practice, practice, and more practice is alway a good thing........

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I'm thinking my art background is going to be a big help to me, at least I hope so....... I've always painted in some form or other. (oils, acrylics, and mostly watercolors).

Welcome to the forum Tigre, you show some nice line work which will help you in freehand lettering. A good drill to help you in lettering is to make a 2" grid and practice lines horizontal, vertical, and diagonal in both directions, keeping the line width the same thickness consistantly. Using the same grid practice painting that same old alphabet you had to learn in grade school, again keeping the line thickness consistent throughout the entire alphabet. These two drills will help you to learn brush control needed to make pretty printed lettering.
