Any Fabric Paint that Doesn't Need to be Heat Set?

Just wondering if there's something out there that is for fabric and doesn't need to be heat set.

you can buy an additive to add to the paint but you must use it right away or it will cure out in the bottle..heat setting should not be a problem tho.

Diaperchic, the paint does not HAVE to be heat set. Heat setting melts the paint into the fiber so it does not fade when washed. I have spilled all kinds of paint, fabric and non fabric, on my pants and shirts, never heat set it and it DOESN"T wash out So to answer your question, any fabric paint will work without heat setting and if you let it dry for a week, before washing it may not fade, but probably won't last as many washes as it would if properly heat set. If you are charging money for the work done on fabric, it needs to be properly heat set or you will have some angry customers. Do some tests, with the paint you have available to you and see how it holds up. Golden Fluid Acrylics say the do not need heat setting but will hold up better if heat set. I know what I spill is still with me!

as far as the heat used to set the paint... does it matter where it comes from? ... like can you use say a dryer, hair dryer, or even an oven? the reason i ask is the t's and hats that i plan on painting are not easily pressed bc ... well its a hat, and the placement of the paint on the t isnt ideal for the heat press.

I wouldn't worry about the hat. I doubt it will get washed very much. But i would heat set the shirt. If you don't have access to a proper heat press you could make do with an iron I've heard. There should be something between the iron and the painting (paper of some kind?) and I don't know how long or how hot it should be, but I'm sure someone here will give you some more tips.

USING CRATEX COLORS
SURFACE PREPARATION
Fabric- Including 100% cotton, 50/50 blends, denim, sweatshirts, and most natural fibers.
1) For best results, wash item first to remove sizing and mill finishes.
2) Airbrush the design onto fabric avoiding thick buildup of paint and excessive paint layering.
3) Allow colors to dry, or a heat gun may be used to accelerate drying time. Drying time varies depending on application.
4) Heatset fabric for permanence by one of the following methods: a) Iron for 2 minutes at 300º F use a protective cloth, keep iron moving. b) Turn item inside out and put in clothes dryer for 40 minutes at highest heat.
