Here we go! First Entry......The Pinup Harley Davidson. This bike is still in progress, and I've edited the pics for content. The original pics can be viewed in the Pinup Section of the forum.
I will also have to include video links, because I am using heat reactive (disappearing) paint in the scheme, and still pics won't do it justice!
I'll add more pics as I make progress, but here's a few to get-r-started!
UPDATE - Had a "redo" on the tank per the customer's request. He wanted the blonde on both sides of the tank. This is why I paint, and not Tattoo!
The last 5 pics are with the heat reactive paint for the clothes. When the temperature reaches 75 degrees F, the paint activates, and the clothes disappear. Yes, that is the same picture!!!!!!! (before and after heat) There are video links in the pinup section of the forum.
UPDATE** Added more pics from the saddle bags and tour pack
ditto neder, it's enough to make the rest of us try harder, lol. if it would just stop raining i can start my bike! and even better, the guy next door wants me to do a demo pinup girl to see if i'm good enough for his bike!
well, here's my tank. i haven't done the final detailing cause i have to do the same pic on the other side, then a centre piece, so i'll post the final pic sometime next week, but this is pretty close to done. also hasn't been cleared yet. AA paint
i'll put these in a different post to the progress pics. these are the pics of the finished tank (and sidecovers) . the tank has just been 2pack clearcoated and is sitting in the sun to harden. these are a few different angles, hope you like.
To give more people time to get their enters in I extended the contest until July 23rd
Sweet....thanks Don! I'm playing catch-up on this pinup bike.........got the "redo" on the tank done this weekend. I must (cross my fingers!)have the clothes painted and candied on the tank, front fender, and fairing by Thursday.......and I'm doing a Demo in West Virginia Tomorrow (reschedule). Always a rush!
here is a tank i have been workin on i dont have clear coat pics yet but hopefully tomorrow or the next day i will i have never entered a contest before but that stand is to sweeet for me to not at least try plus its perfect for what im doin
All the tins were done but here is my submission. The tank is a tangerine candy shot over gold base then cleared. The guy was asking for eagle and flames. So I ended up doing a eagle on either side of the tank that I wanted to look like it was flying out of the tank through the flames. The background color really threw me off on this project and was very challenging. After sucking it up and following my lead and did a ghost flame (silver base then a tangerine candy and gold candy prayed over top) over the front of the tank that wrapped around the sides and around the eagle head and wing. The finished product is below with clear. I really am excited on how it turned out. When cleared the flamed took on a life of their own and so did the tank it's self. Hope you enjoy the pics as much as I enjoyed painting.
Wow, that's one AWESOME prize, Don! Holy smokes! I sure could use that stand when I reopen the shop. (Who couldn't?) Awful stiff competition though. The artwork posted is fantastic so far.
Hard to paint a bike or helmet when I'm not taking any clients. Boo hoo! But the rest of you need to post up! This is a great contest with an awesome prize. Show us your eye candy!!!
Does it have to be current work? I have some older stuff that I took in-progress photos of as I worked on it.

no it doesn't need to be current

Well, I finally started again and doing my own helmet right now, learning auto air paint. If I can get it done in time I'll post it
GP, if you haven't used AA before and you are going to use mask or tape, just check for adhesion, i've had a few issues with the tape pulling the artwork off the job.
Okay, I should be done with the helmet I'm working on now next week and I will post it as soon as I'm done. It's progression pics are already up, so just need the finished piece.

Thanks Sabre, yes, I have already royally FUBAR'd the first attenpt to the point I had to start over from scratch but that is how we learn.
I'm sorry Greger, i'm going to have to ask to have your entry excluded, it isn't fair for the rest of us!!!! mate that is awesome!! i won't ask how many hours went in to it, but i think the whole concept and artwork is brilliant!! well done.
LOL Well thank you Sabre, I think I put a couple hours into it at any rate. LOL It always seems like it takes longer than it actually does, as I can't AB every day, and some times don't get to AB at all in a week if work comes in. Just an hour or two at a time is the norm. I'm getting faster tho.
I here ya Greger....this angelina pic skin tone is driving me NUTS!! and just to make it harder, i have a throat infection and can't talk, let alone sing!! got till thusday to get over it....doesn't look good...
I was just looking for the Angelina Beowolf thread and couldn't find it.. Have you posted lately on your progress? I hope you'll get over the nasty throat infection post haste mate. Nothin worse than being sick and trying to accomplish the astounding results as you do. hope you'll feel better in time for your gig Dave.
oh wont this be fun!! how on earth are we supposed to vote?? i keep checking on the entrys and it is going to be very difficult to pick just one! riki.
Thanks Neder, I'm happy to finally have it done. But I keep thinking, well if I just do a little more work here and there on it, it'll be even better. LOL I'm trying to start something new soon so I can leave it alone. LOL
Thanks guys,... it was a nice change from flames and tribals (sick of that stuff),... Sabre I use uros on pretty much everything including tee shirts, lol!

I don't think I'll hold a candle to any of the artwork posted but, I happen to be painting a bike. So for the sake of competition and making the contest legal I'll toss mine in. I know I'll get one vote anyway (mine)! Good luck to all and props to all the lucky dogs that get to paint cool stuff on bikes
EDIT: I've been adding pics as I progress on this project...
Lots of awesome work posted here. Let's keep it coming!!!
Okay, so this is not the bike with the most crazy detail, or the biggest wow factor, but it was one of the more complex, & it's always been one of my favorites. It won't win me that awesome stand, but I wanted to enter something for the sake of participating, so here's the first racing 'Busa I ever did. It was my first big project after moving here & opening Cameron Arts. Funny thing is, when I reopen again in September 2010, this same bike will be one of my first projects. She's had some modifications (is currently being rebuilt) & will be ready for a new paint job that winter. Woo hoo!
The first 5 pics are in-progress shots.
1. (Busa_marked) In addition to taking photos, we marked up the pieces while they were still on the bike with blue fineline tape so I could realign them back in the shop while laying out the design. He wanted elements to continue from one piece onto another, so I needed to be sure they lined up properly.
2. (Busa_transfer) Here is a shot of my transfer process. This was prior to owning a cutter, so I laid out one side by hand, then traced, cut, flipped & retraced each element from tracing paper onto the other side.
3. (Busa_stonework) Forgive the messy shop space. I had a crazy deadline! Here I'm doing all the stonework on the tail piece & 2 sides simultaneously. There were 8 layers to the fake stone, so I did them assembly line fashion to make sure they all matched.
4. (Busa_masked) Just one of many, many masked layers in progress.
5. (Busa_shading) Adding drop shadows everywhere! Wheeeeeee!
The rest of the pics are after clearcoat, & the last one is assembled & poised to tear up the racetrack! What a fun project!
Good luck everybody! (Do we have our 10 entries yet?!?)
Just post what ya got so far GP. I'd like to see what you're working on .
That's what I am gonna do. Nothing crazy, just getting my feet wet again. Done all with AA so far. Only thing left is clear and striping but that won't be done by the deadline.
My Simpson Shark helmet back from my kart racing days.
Enjoy.
One question for you AA guys? What can I use to wipe this down to remove any residue left from the tape before clearing?
GP, do you have any trouble with the AA paint lifting when you remove the tape? I'm forever pulling paint away with the pinstripe tape..
I did the first time I tried it. I had to start this project over again from scratch because of it. This time, no issues. I followed AA's setup guide to the T. It has to go on in very thin coats and given ample time to dry. if you use a heat gun or hair dryer to help cure each coat, don't go crazy, that was one of my mistakes the first time. It turned the silver into a rubbery-latex texture that peeled right up with the tape.
Hello everyone!
I was working hard past 10 days for to make this baby ready for the contest. This is my second helmet and I'm quite happy with it, hope you like it
Nice job kickass but I think you can only have one entry so you will have to choose. And you put out a shout to all Auzzies so what about the rest of us lol
