I have a Kawasaki Vulcan 1500. My husband has the Vulcan 2000. We
ride year round here in Florida. With gas so high, the good weather and riding a bike are double blessings! Plus, it sure revives the soul.
What's your ride? Looks like a big bike, too. Nice color. The weather there
is pretty mild year round, isn't it? GB

THat was one of the bikes i thought about getting, very nice bike the vulcan, but i could only find the 800cc models(or is it 850) around my area. also looked at a harley, but every man and his dog wants one... to expensive on parts. I took my honda shadow sabre for a ride and that was it!! done a few mods, custom forwards, mini apes, grips, cobra pipes, etc etc, and now got a bike i love to ride. it's raining at the moment, so can't get out, but anyway i'm still a bit sore from the fall, so best to give it another day or 2. The reaon i got into airbrushing was to see if i could do it well enough to AB the bike myself. so far i'm on track. here's 2 pics, my very first attempt last month when i first bought the brush(never painted anything in my life, and tried to draw but.... i stick to music). the AB has given me a new direction.2nd pic is one i just finished. as you can se, there was something wrong with the brush in the first pic... NOT ME, LOL

Hey Dekieon, welcome aboard. I seem to remember seeing you on the forum in the last day or 2. the 2 pics above your post are my first(february) and last(today) pic, last one finished about an hour ago. I'm a professional entertainer(muso for short), and needed a hobby, and this is it. I've never painted a picture till i got the AB brush. Been a member of this forum for just over a month. as u can see from the first pic, i was as bad as you can get, i'm not an artist. but thanks to the guidance on this forum, i'm getting the hang of it. Biggest thing you will find is practice, over and over, till you don't want to practice any more.... take a break, then practice more. mainly dagger strokes and lines, thay teach you how to gain control of the brush, and believe me, control is what it's all about. everyone on this forum is so helpful, if you have a question, ask and you'll get a heap of answers. Lastly, do yourself a favour and subscribe to the online magazine, the tools and videos will make life a lot easier. get to know everyone here, they're all a great bunch of people, and all have some great artwork on display(i'm working on that side, lol). check out the contests, you'll see what newbs like us are capable of.
what sort of brush do you have??

I ordered a kit that had the Iwata HP-C+. I love the brush, I can make the tinyiest of lines, unfortunately, they are very very squiggly. I have been working on lesson one, and practicing strokes, daggers and the whole turning the paint on and off without turning the air on and off. I guess I am better then I was a few days ago, but I have a long long way to go to get any where close to good.

Re: Dots, Daggers, Lines Contest comments
You both should enter the contest wether you think you will win or not. No matter how good someone is they still never know for sure if they are going to win. Also I think you can replace your entry with something else(may want to check on that) if the deadline is not up. To top it off you are going to gain off just some good insight and extra skill just by entering period so who cares about winning just have fun and join in the games. Jump in the people are all really cool and nice here. They will never put you down and do everything they can to encourage and help you. Just remember it is only dots daggers or lines and you can make just about any picture out of those things that you want to make and to Take progress pictures of the individual work.

KD, 5 hours time on that pic of the porc! You really have what it takes to
be an AB artist! Your fingers are stronger than mine. I'm squeezing and releasing my hand muscles after just an hour. I've pushed and done 3-4 hours, but not longer than that yet! Congrats on your effort! Super job!

Sabreghost, Honda makes a nice bike. Know that bike...neighbor bought one.
Nice ride! Especially when you customize it and really make it fit your own body. Have fun on it....Be safe!
Hey, your ABing is really coming along! I have the same goal to eventually paint artwork on bikes. My husband is into painting bikes and does a great job. He has laid some simple designs down on some of them but he would love to see my artisitic skill put to use, but with the AB. (I've done oil, acryllic, and watercolor paintings of birds, landscapes, etc...) Just picked up ABing in Jan.08 so I'm just too new to even think of ABing a bike. My husband has a set of spare tins for his Vulcan 2000 that he customized himself with recessed lighting and tag. He also bought hard bags and they are ready to be painted.
My husband sees some of my work and tells me I'm ready. I'm scared to death to try, it seems so overwhelming, and so much pressure. My husband says what Don here has a standing motto, "It's only paint". I need to get into that level of thinking but it's still too much for me to undertake. Need to learn more about stenciling. Also, flames. And practice more with lines, dots, and daggars to achieve a more accurate and precise rendition of what I attempt. With my husband's push and my tenacious AB practice schedule I'll be trying that sooner than I think. Yikes!
I'll be doing a few more tutorials from this great forum site and will learn more from that. AND I will keep repeating, "It's only paint, It's only paint, It's only paint." LOL
Keep up your great work, Sabreghost. AND Please keep sharing your pics. Love to see such huge progress in such a short amount of time. It's very
inspiring! Goldbrush
PS On my husband's Vulcan forum, he has several buddies that live in Australia. What town are you near?

I live near brisbane, capital of queensland. on the central east coast of australia, i guess. I've done a fair bit of customizing to the bike, but still a way ro go. I'm gonna cut the base out of the seat and set it back a bit further, see if i can give nyself an extra inch of leg room, then make more forward forwards, give myself an extra bit more leg room. I'm 201 cm tall, so i need all i can get, lol. thnx for the words on the work, i seem to be getting the hang of it, as you are. Have a go at your husband's ideas, you'll be surprised at how well you will do. I bought some automotive paint today, i'm going to try painting something, just using black, on a sheet of metal, see what comes out. no doubt it will be a totally different feel!
