Default Tip Dry

I went back and while reading some of the older post I noticed a conversation about tip dry and cleaning the tip while spraying. Every so often do you wipe it off if not how do you clean it? Also I noticed my Iwata spray better with out the first metal ring/head, is this normal?

Here we go again right?

Hello Aprille, I clean my tip quite often..probably every 10-30 seconds..at least every time I stop to take a breath..it becomes second nature & you're not even aware you do it.. I just use my fingernails on my left hand to give it a quick pick..it only takes a second..I don't care to use the very first metal cap on my Iwata either..for some reason I think it has a little flare to it & it makes it difficult for me to lay a line..if you do this (without the cap) you must be cautious not to let your airbrush drop or hit anything as to damage the needle or tip..they're a little pricey so you don't want to harm them..very good questions!!

It has just come to my realization, that I have the ability to regrind the tips on the Iwata needles( or any others that are similar ). You see, I own a company that grinds metal cutting tools for the machining industries and although I knew it was a possibility, it was just recently confirmed when I did exactly that, dropped my brush with the cap off and bent the needle real good. I also have a measuring device ( Optical comparator ) that helps in precise measurment of the needles to their specific sizes.

If anyone has a collection of needles they can't do anything with, I'd be happy to regrind them for shipping cost. Just need to know what size they were.

Hehe! I gave it a quick thought, but not much of one. It wouldn't be hard for me to make up some needles from piano wire, but I don't think they are really that expensive to begin with. It's just that, if one had a collection of bent or broken needles, I could easily fix them and save them a little money.

Just my way of giving back to those that have given so much by posting here.
