Default Air blows out cup instead of nozzle???

Hello all. Im new to airbrushing so excuse my ignorance if this is common. I just bought this setup off a friend who used it to run her spray tan business. I am having a problem with the Iwata hp-cs airbrush and im hoping its just user error. Whenever i try to use it it just blows air/paint out the paint cup and not out the nozzle. I have cleaned it with no luck. When the tip is off as shown in the picture air flows freely through the nozzle so that seems to be the restriction. Any ideas?

Also does anyone have any idea as to what type of airbrush the other one is? It just says totally tan usa on the side of it.

Thanks for the help

Replace the fluid nozzle see if that doesn't fix it.

Either you have dried paint on the needle or inside the fluid nozzle would be my guess.

The other airbrush is a knock off Chinese brush most likely in which case parts might be a bit hard to find.

Thanks guys, i will get a new nozzle and try that. Let me ask you guys this. I paid $200 for the two airbrushes a leather case and the compressor. Did I get ripped off? Or was that a fair deal?
Thanks for the help.

cybr, the $200 for 2 brushes & compressor will depend on how old they are, the compressor could be worth that much if it is is good shape

Everything is about 6 years old and has been sitting since she closed her business about 5 years ago. Probably why the thing is all clogged up. The compressor and chinese knock off brush works and looks fantastic. Im going today at lunch to try to find a new tip.

Check this out guys. In the pic below is the only parts at the tip of my iwata hp-cs. I think i am missing the "fluid nozzle" completely. If I had the needle shoved forward all the way without the nozzle could that cause the problem that im having with blowing paint out of the cup?
Thanks.

My airbrush was in fact without a nozzle completely. I purchased a new one today and listed my old one on ebay for $50 if anyone wants it. Other than missing the nozzle it looks new to me. Thanks for all the help!!!

Does the female opening where the nozzle screws in show damage or remnants of an old nozzle?

No there is no damage. In fact I just removed the nozzle from my new brush and installed it in my old brush and it works perfectly. I saw the nozzle for $24 at a local hobby shop but instead of going that route I got deal on a new brush that I could not pass up. Someone on ebay will get a good deal.
