Default parts prob

first of all, hello to everyone! i've been an artist in many mediums for a while now and was wanting to start airbrushing. because i want to make a living at it i purchased 2 different brushes. 1 a cheaper paache, the other i researched and got 1 that i knew would suit what i wanted to end up doing. the 1st is fine, but i didnt want to start until i knew both pieces completely. it is an iwata, and in the proccess of taking it apart to learn it there is a piece i cannot get apart. i dont have it with me right now so i dont know the tech names to parts but, its the screw piece in the middle holding both ends together. the back i can get off fine but cannot get it unscrewed from the front. the diagram shows that it does come apart. ive even tried to use rubber grip pliers carefully but it wont budge. is this common to new brushes with a trick to get it the first time or do u know of a place i can take it to for help? where i bought it there doesnt seem to be anyone who can help. i'd love to start but i refuse to put anything in it till i know where all the pieces are. any advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

I have no idea which part are you describing, so you might need to post what model of Iwata you have and which part are you trying to disassemble for someone to help.

It might be a good idea to thin paints too much initially. Ie, thinner than skim milk (I'm talking about water based acrylics I'm using). Spray on paper, learning to control the a/b. You'll get a hang of basic operation that way and will not risk clogging up the brush quickly. During next sessions, mix paints gradually thicker. You might not need to disassemble the brush at all, apart from removing the needle (to wipe it), and perhaps taking out needle cap / nozzle cap.

FWIW, my Iwata HP-B was easy enough to disassemble with a help of rubber grip.

HTH,
Chris

Both company make some fine airbrushes.
From the sounds of it, you are trying to loosen or remove the screw that holds the packing/seal/needle bearing, and to be honest, that is one of a few parts you should probably not be messing with. Don't get me wrong, I think it is great that you try to know and understand your airbrush, but there are pieces that you will probably never have to mess with, and that are better left alone. This is one of them.
The areas you will need to know and feel comfortable with are the: needle cap, the nozzle cap, the nozzle, the needle, the trigger, the auxillary lever, the needle chuck, the needle chucking nut, the spring, the spring tensioner, and possibly the handle. There are several variations on the handle, so depending upon which one you have, you may or may not have things to muck about with.
Always do your disassembly/cleaning over a contained area, such as a baking pan or bowl, this keeps your parts and mess in a nice, neat little area.
