Cleaning with Alcohol

Hi All
New here and to airbrushing. I have a Awatta Eclipse HP SBS brush and I wanted to clean it so I put a bit of alcohol in it. Now air comes out through paint cup and will not spray paint out of nossel, as soon as I did it I remembered not to use alcohol to clean.

Is there a repair kit to replace seals and can I do it myself?? or just buy new brush??

i also have a SBS and first time alcohol use shouldn't ruin your seals unless you use some type of fire water lol or let it sit there for a long while....question are you getting any air or anything coming out of the nozzle? if not then you probably have a block in your nozzle...try cleaning that out and try to spray again....keep me posted

Hopefully all you did was loosened up paint crud and you need to clean the nozzle and needle.

The first question I have to ask is: What kind of paint were you using in your Iwata airbrush?
Always read the instructions that come with the paint, and use the appropriate solvent for that paint.
Mixing alcohol with latex paint or makeup will make little gummy balls inside your airbrush, the same goes the other way, using water in an alcohol based paint or makeup will make a mess of things.

You probably won't have to replace seals, but you need to be careful in your cleaning, for you and your airbrush. Mixing chemicals together that weren't meant to be mixed can be a lethal combination.

NEVER submerge your airbrush in water or any other solvents.
NEVER use ammonia or ammonia based products to clean your airbrush, the ammonia will damage the chrome and brass in your airbrush, and it can make the seals/packing/needle bearing dry or brittle with time.

Always work over a contained area, such as a bowl or pan when you are cleaning, this keeps your mess contained, and it keeps all the parts in a safe area.
Always wear protective gear, and work in a well ventelated area.
Always use the recommended solvents or cleaners, and follow the instructions.
