my first pathetic dragon
i know shading is bad and colors need work, i had to improvise with colors, and its too cartoony, but i just wanted to see if i could draw it out and paint, its from a book i found at michels on drawing dragons, i cant remember the authors name at the moment

Re: my first pathetic dragon
you are wayyyyyyy tttoooo hard on yourself.....
It looks good for the first...I see some good gun control in there....relax it will come with practice...crawl first.....post more we will help all we can.
One thing dont try to paint all at once with the colors...layer them in with many passes...build your paint [dark to light-loose to tight] is a well known saying in airbrushing.....

Re: my first pathetic dragon
Dobie, you have the base down. Now just put it back up on the easel and pretend there is light shining on it from one of the corners and lighten up the high points and shade the lows. You'll see a quick 3D effect poping right away.

Re: my first pathetic dragon
Not bad at all for a first attempt. I know what book you're talking about 'cause I have it also and I must say you aren't far off. Try to imagine your light source a little more consistently and you will see your paintings come to life!
Edit: Darn it lsa you beat me again

Re: my first pathetic dragon
For a first stab at illustrating this is pretty darn good Dobie! You have some great control, you just need to do it more or more of it.
Take a look at this several months down the road and compare your work to this and see how much you improve.
The track you are on now,,you shouldn't be at all surprised how well you have come along.
Nice work!
