Default Havent posted in a while ----- Gixxer project -----

Here is a 2005 GSXR 750 that I am working on. trying to get it done and sent to HOK for this years awards. Have to have it all done and photos taken and mailed by the 31st of this month.

My intension is to cover all the white with Oriental blue kandy.

Here is some airbrush work that I have gotten finished over the last couple of days (about 18 hours so far)

Here was the bike before I scuffed the clear down. It is painted HOK stratta blue over a black ko-sealer. Then it was covered with 3 coats of UC-35. No I'm using base coat white, oriental blue kandy, cobalt blue kandy, burple kandy and black base coat for the graphics.

Awesome color selection and design, I like.

I was wondering.....I tried to paint my friends windscreen and it went all kinds of wrong. Basically it pulled up a protective layering or something on the windscreen. I sanded it down to the base and then repainted it. did you do anything special to the windscreen, or were you just lucky?

Well, I sanded it down with 800 then cleaned it really well w/ a wax and grease remover. But I also used bulldog adhesion permotor on it.

when u painted the actual fairing portion, did u sand that? or just the adhesion promoter?
and if u did sand it, did u spray down the clear and then the dragons or u put the dragons on before the clear? what was your process?

im asking becuause im in the process of painting my r6 and ive never done it before. thanks.

and the design is really nice! u going the whole length of the bike with the dragons?

Well, this was a long process for me.

I have painted this bike two times prior to this. So with that in mind I had to strip it all the way back to the factory plastic and beyond as pictures:

After this was done and cleaned very well. I primed it with a high build that I could block down.. After it was blocked I had a few areas that I need to prime again and block. When the priming and blocking was all done I used a black sealer and sealed everything. Then went in and based it with the blue. once the blue had fully flashed I cleared the entire bike.

kclcreations/Gixxer/New build/Base and first coat clear - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Once that the clear had set for a week I blocked the clear smooth with 800 grit and started laying out the graphics. once all the graphics are done and the final coat of kandy is down I'll end up clearing it again and maybe doing a flow coat

And I will be doing this scheme from front fender to tip of tail. Not sure how, but I'll figure it out as I go

Thanks guys. Hoping to get back on this and hard tomorrow night. I'm waiting on the new needles to com in. My dumb ass dropped the micron and bent the needle beyond fixing. Tried all methods and got no luck. So I ordered more. Should be here tomorrow according to my paint rep.

Well, still at it. After missing two weeks with the baby being born and what not, I finally got back on it yesterday and today. Damn I under estimated the amount of work to be done here. DIdnt realize how detailed it was going to be. But it looks great.
Here is the right side faring with one finished koi and the start to another. I should be able to get this side finished up tomorrow and be started on the left side.
