that is actually not bad at all,,,you did great detail in the face,,not too harsh on facial lines,,the face i think ya nailed,,take that white and tone it down a bit,,dont do straight white,,add some of the facial colors in the highlights to take that shock of white out,,,

USE AN ELECTRIC ERASER maybe to pull some highlights out as well,,

other than that,,A++ for first try with micron,,,

OMG OMG DID I JUST SAY MICRON,,i want one,,hows it working,,can you use createx threw them,,,,,,IVE BEEN DYING FOR ONE,,,FOR REAL,,THATS ALL I SPEAK OF,,,

FW is an acrylic ink that can be used in an AB and it flows great, a little liquidy sometimes but i like it better than createx. FW stands for Frederic something. hahahahahaha

Nice pic, the fingers are a little "harsh"

A small amount of rubbing alcohol works for me to thin the creatix, but you gotta make shue it's mixed well. I got a little battery electric mixer on ebay for airbrush paints (about $15 with shipping) and it works great.

Regular old rubbing alcohol, in the medicine/bandage area of any grocery store or drug store. At the grocery store it usually is about 70% at the drug store its about 90%
I also use it to clean the brushes. (water based paint)

Its the stuff the use to sterilize. You know, on a cotton ball they wipe the skin before you get a shot.
It's cheap too.

Don't know, I've never used that.

But the badger cleaner I got once did not smell like alcohol to me.
I'm also trying ammoinia right now I've just bought my first bottle and the first test at cleaning looks promising.

I'll post if it works out.

I would avoid the alcohol and the windex because it will break down the Teflon packing ring. Medea makes a good airbrush cleaner you just to wear a mask when using it. Also Com-Art Airbrush colors work great in the micron and work beautiful with a electric eraser for doing the highlights

The micron has a Teflon packing ring, and will NOT be affected by ANY solvent.

Even the Buna rings in other Iwatas will stand up pretty well to solvents, Just don't leave it sit in there, and rinse with water when done.
Windex and Fantastic are amonia based and will over time eat away at any weak spots in the chrome plating. Methel alchohol should be avoided for the same reasons, it will eat metal over time.

The C-tex cleaner is a detergent based product and WILL break down the binder in any water based paint, sometimes you need to leave it sit in the brush for a few minuites if the internal drying is real bad. It will not hurt the brush. C-tex also makes an airbrush restorer for badly clogged guns, and it will break down any acrylic.

Also Dawn dishwashing detergent works well. It is the strongest DW liquid around.
I use 6 drops of Dawn dishwashing detergent to 16oz. of water for thinning and cleaning, it works very well with C-tex.
Also Liquidtex Flow Aid is great stuff too, it's made to thin tube paint for use in an airbrush.

As for tip dry it is a fact of life and you gotta live with it to some extent.
I use a leather strop to polish my needles to a mirror finish. This cuts tip dry tremendously.
You can also hear when the tip starts to dry, the sound changes from a smooth sound to a kind of fuzzy spitting sound, this can be a cue to run your fingernail around the needle and get the dried crud off of it. And if your'e shooting with the crown cap on, take it off!

Lastly C-tex white and yellow (opaque) are the worst offenders, they have a lot of pigment in them and will give you fits until you find the right mixing ratio. Sorry I cant give you a recipie for the paint mix cuz I just mix by eye, I just know when it's right.

Snuff,
You've got a strop? Outstanding! I've been looking for a ready made one for years. I do a little leather working so I've made my own, but it just feels different than one made for razors.

That's what My grandpa taught me to sharpen knives with. I grew up with steak knives that were all "s" curved from the years of sharpening.

Even a good buffing wheel won't compare to what somebody that knows how can do with a strop.
