Default Fender W.I.P.

Hi everyone, Don't know what this is....started out as a skull from a stencil then turned to this. What do you think........its not 2 part cleared yet........should I start over or clear it and put it on display? I would like to make the" broken metal edge " a bit more realistic but I don't know how. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Jim

DAMN Jim!

That looks seriously NASTY!

The only thing I can think of would be to add some darker drop shadow at the edge of the breaks to give it some extra separation and depth.

I don't think it would need to be too dark, just a darker shade of the colors underneath the broken edge.

Love it. Definatly bang some clear on that. Would make a great display piece. As for the tears, I attached a sketch that we did for a job we are working on, for the client to get the idea of what 3-D tears/rips are going to look like. It's not painted yet, but you can get the idea. Just try to get some depth and uneveness in the tears. Also, notice how on the edges of the jagged pieces of metal, that they dont end smooth, but they overlap a bit from the tears. Kind of a rollback effect. That also allows you to do shadows on the surface (your skull) and on the metal that the skull is coming out of and a second shadow on the metal from the overlap.
Look forward to seeing where you end up on this.

Great eye on that Rowie......I didn't even notice it but that part is screwed up. I did shade that and after a closer examination it looks like the inter coat clear sagged and took the paint underneath with it causing it to look like hell. Thanks a bunch for pointing that out. Gonna touch it up and clear coat and then post more pics. Thanks again everybody..its amazing how you can overlook some stuff. J.Foe

Jim, Brother..

No need to thank me mate, I am the one thanking you for sharing your talent and ideas with us.

One of the hardest things about our work is that we are so close to the working surface that we don't see the little things, along the same lines as not seeing the forest through the trees.

This family is amazing, we support each other, and keep an eye on each other!

Hi everyone, Here is a couple of pics of the finished fender. This is for display purposes so I painted the other side as well. Learned this from a "How To " from some wonderful person on this web site. Thanks for looking. J.Foe

Jim, Brother, that has really popped!

The colors are so alive and bright, the extra shadow on the edge of the tear has really given the artwork that extra depth.

Well done mate.
