eagle and the worse day of my life
i thought i whould paint today since its raining in miami so i took my time and cut out my mask and stick it to a piece of metal plate which i sanded and painted black.
i then slowly took my time and started a.b my eagle, after most of my white was done i whent and changed colours to black since i only have one quality a.b, then there it goes my airbrush fell and bent with the needle
so i thought ll use a cheapo i had and then i messsed up all the black as u can see
and to top it off i pull my mask off and my background comess up with it
wht a life
but yet am inlove with this eagle
just to bad i couldnt finish him

Re: eagle and the worse day of my life
Khalid........is there any way you could shoot a lacquer coat over it (or get someone else to do it for you?). Had the same problem in the past, with masking lifting paint when you peel it off. If you can shoot a lacquer coat over it between your maskings it seals in your paint and it won't lift again
I have read elsewhere that applying masking film before your basecolour paint is fully dried out can also lead to it lifting, and in my own experience, rubbing down to too smooth a surface on 'sealing' lacquer coats can also lead to subsequent paint coats lifting - as paint needs some roughness to key onto.
Hope this helps

Re: eagle and the worse day of my life
khali, don't you dare scrap that piece!
Just work with it, how else do we learn?
The work you have so far is awesome and far too good to trash, you have the talent and skill to be able to make something wonderful.

Even if I have no experience I think you should try that. The eagle looks great, so try to fight for it. If it works you have won, if it fails at least you tried and can be proud for not giving up right away. And don't forget to tell us how it goes!

Re: eagle and the worse day of my life
Hi Khalid it is a bummmmmer what has happend, as I am still a novice at this A/Brushing I can,t give any advice about repairing the damage. But I did get a tip a couple of weeks ago from an A/B artist over masking. If you use a hair dryer on a low setting you can remove the masking without damage to the paint work I have been useing this method on paper that has been painted and removing masking tape and up until now I haven,t damaged any of the paint work under the masking tape. I hope this is of help to you.

Interresting...doesn't warming it up leave any glue residue? I have to try and see how it works!

Re: eagle and the worse day of my life
Eagle looks great.
You can almost see the crinkle in the black where it did not grab to the sign.
Did you prime first? I, personally like the etching primer since it will bond to the metal. Just dont run it od you will be there for a while sanding it out.
