It is the insulating blanket that is attached to the underside of the hood, kind of a spun fiberglass, tough to paint, absorbs the paint like crazy, I know if I do another one I will clearcote it first to try to seal the fibers.

anytime Foe , now that I understand, the clear coat might ease the pain of paint being absorb,
