Default First try at airbrushing/true fire

(Sorry, I'm new, just noticed there's like 3 different places for pictures, can someone delete this or ignore it I'll post it in "CRITIQUES OF YOUR ART WORK")

Hey I'm new at airbrushing, thought it would be cool to learn, and to start off with true fire. I think it sucks cause I'm bad at drawing flames >.<
but what do you think

Sorry need to learn how to take better pictures :\

Also the paper I got isn't right as you can tell. But it was in the ab department..? :S

Yes, you did pick a hard subject for starting out, looks like it should be a easy thing to do but it takes alot of practice to find a method that works for you.

One of the first things to remember is the effect is achieved by layering the flames. The first layer is put down very loose with no real flame definition just
a rough outline of where you want to go with it. The next layers should tighten up and me more defined.

Colors should be applied dark to light to really increase the depth. I don't do mine like Mike L however the same concepts he uses applies to my method. For instance I will when doing realistic flames shoot some very loose light flames first
then apply a burgandy deep red candy. I then jump to orange for the next, yellow then pegan gold.

Attached is a picture not real easy to see it but look at the lower jaw area you can notice some of the burgundy candy in the background. These deep background colors increase the illusion of depth.

Flames look pretty good for the first time Tallon. I hope when I do my first flames they turn out that good.

Welcome Tallon ! Not bad for a first time, considerin the subject. Neder/Brit had a great suggestion, take a look at Snuffs Flames in the Forum Jump section at the bottom of the post pages.
