2nd try pinup
Hi,, here i go again
hmm,,think i got addiction to pinup painting
had to try one more ,,,but i didn't know on what so i took an old
LP-record took the label off and sprayed some black to get little dull surface
easier to paint on not that shiny,,
this time i used some parchment paper to mask off the pinup
think it went better this time not so blurry as my first one,
and as usual i only used my iwata hp-ch,,,fantastic tool,,
never thought i could do the eyes and mouth with it because of the small size but no problems,i sprayed at 40 psi and a very light index finger,
this time my choice of colors was ICI auto colors,,it was acctually much smoother than with the Golden fluids i used last time.
/kimmo
was supposed to take pic through the steps but i got carried away with the painting..arghh,

I'm amazed at the detail in the eyes at such a small scale. Very nice Kimmo. Thanks for sharing.

Re: 2nd try pinup
Beautiful Kimmo! It is really difficult to do illustrations that small and you pulled it off very well!
Awesome stuff!

Kimmo, You are really good at the pinups. It looks to be a natural talent for you. I can see why you are taking to them so well. The details are all there perfectly.

Thankyou all,
Hi Sandi no problems at all, they are so small you hardly notice them
when painting,,but they show through when you apply a clear or varnish
this make it look pretty cool.

Re: 2nd try pinup
Kimmo you should really consider making that into a clock. Add some silver roman numerals and put the arms right through the middle. I think that would really give it some flair! My brother made a clock from a laser disc about 10 years ago so I know it'll look great. Excellent work buddy!

cool idea, by doing a clock it it will be hung on the wall, instead of ending
up laying with the rest of my "old art"
Thanks

I love the idea. The pin up is great. Super detail on that size. That could be a very cool trend. You might be on to something! hehehe

Re: 2nd try pinup
How DID you do the face? Was there any special technique to the masking? I would love to see this as a tutorial...
Love the detail in the hair. Good hair is hard to render.

Re: 2nd try pinup
Hi,,sorry i don't have pics on this pinup,,but here's a few on another one
it's done in the same manner,
i use some paper as frisket make my drawing on it and cut out parts
bit by bit,,
to the face i cut out the shape and spray some white,,,then i use the piece
with the face cut out the eyes and mouth and make couple holes for the nose,,place it on the LP and spray some black to the eyes and red to the mouth,,,
the rest is free handed on ,,the hair is done by fine dagger strokes,,
Hope was to any some help

Your mask cutting is FANTASTIC. I have the ability to lay out masks with the computer and I have yet to get as nice of a shaping of the eyes and mouth at that size. Absolutely marvelous! I find that faces are the downfall of most small pinups.
Next time you cut a face, would you snap a photo of your mask and post it?
