Re: where in tinley park
Not from the area, but I can give you some recommendations...
1) Use the how-to's from this site. I took time to practice these and read the how to's and it was the exact same thing I paid $50 for 4 hours to learn. Now with that being said...it was nice to reinforce all that I had been doing.
2) once you get that, get some ideas from the forum to practice...plenty of ideas...and in reality, the only way to get better is to practice...
3) The online magazine has a good list of great articles you can get...the print magazine has good articles, but you don't benefit from being able to get all of the past articles. I highly recommend a subscription to one or both magazines. Very useful. Plus you benefit from a subscriber's forum where we tend to help each other out a little more. Plus there are some videos on there that can help out...Additionally, Don (the generous person who puts all of this together) is working on putting together some on-line teaching.
4) figure out what you want to do. Each area is really a specialty. T-shirts are different than illustrations, which are different than helmets and automotive, which are different than RC cars, which are different than cakes. The basics are the basics...but each one appears to have certain techniques that may or may not work with others...(I don't know...I am still a beginner)...also different airbrushes work better for different things...
5) Check with some local art supply stores that sell airbrushes...they may know someone that they can refer you too...
That is just my thoughts...
