where to find ammonia free windex

hey folks, i've been trying to find ammonia free windex for about a week now, but can't find. does anyone know where i can find it at. i have tried walmart, kmart, all the local markets, but nothing. can any one point me in the right direction. thanks

Water works just well for cleaning out your airbrush.Some times I use 50/50 water and simple green.But I have not used it for a while.

may be a simple case of "not available in your area" if you havent been able to find it.

there are plenty of alternative cleaners that you can use if you dont want the ammonia. "Fantastic" is one - mixed 50/50 with water - actually seems to work better to me, but that is my opinion.

windex is water, alcohol ,color dye ,ammonia plus a acid name that I can't remember, what wrong with mixing alcohol and distill water to make your own windex, about 10% alcohol is close to perfect

Hey Bk,
You can use Glass Plus, just like Windex only ammonia free. I mix it with water, a 50/50 solution to clean my airbrush. Walmart sells it , and if yer close to a Dollar Store, they sell it too. From one Noob to another, welcome to the forum.

Isopropyl Alcohol cut with water works good also. I just like windex because that acid is what makes the latex in the water based paint break down. Be aware... don't use any kind of heavy solvent on latex paint. IE Acetone, Xylol, Tolulene. these solvents will instantly solidify the latex and turn your brush into a gummy mess. I learned this by expierence

As I posted before Amonia is corrosive to copper and the brass used in the construction of most brushes is an alloy of copper and tin. The amonia will slowly corrode the brass and make the brush function less efficiently.

Think BK may be wanting it to thin Createx? Never shot the stuff myself, but I'm looking at trying some tee's and got some. A buddy who does vinyl graphics, uses isopropyl alcohol added to the soap/ water when he lays down the vinyl. Isopropyl alcohol is "hygroscopic", meaning it combines with water. So it speeds the drying time. Stands to reson that it would speed the drying time of Createx also for the faster evaporation rate. The bonding with water also is why isopropyl alcohol works as "dry gas"
