Kodiak, what are you painting? canvas? paper? automotve? Golden has nice transparents such as red oxides and others that might be pretty good. But I'm not sure how they handle clearcoating and stuff. If it's for other medium, should be OK.

Evening lsabourin,

I am building a model railway layout.

I would like to airbrush rather than hand paint the rails as it would look better.

Golden ? Sorry but never heard of it over here in England. I will trawl through the net to find them.

Thanks

andy

Andy, in that case it's different. If you're dealing with plastic, I would prime the rails with Tamya buff and then paint with Tamya or Hobby color rust paint. If it's metal though you're better off with a metal primer and then a hobby paint. I'm worried though that the train is going to remove the top of the rail but maybe that's what will look realistic

Evening Isa,

Right, the rails are metal and the sleepersare plastic.

Do i need to use a primer on the metal rails ?

Is that Tamiya by the way ?

thanks

Andy, in that case Tamiya (sorry not Tamya) sells a metal/plastic primer in a can that you can use for both (if not the buff is good because it is flat and leaves a surface to bite on). Definitely prime everything if you're going to paint.
