Default Returning Airbrush Enthusiast

Hello Fellow Airbrush Enthusiasts,
I am picking up the airbrush again after a six year break. I saw this forum and decided to introduce myself. I taught myself to airbrush (mostly on tshirts) in 1976. From 1991 to 2000, I taught a public school (high school and adults) Commercial Art class and I included airbrushing and as a core competentency. In 2000 I got a job as a designer for a major corporation and I put the airbrush aside. I have begun to use it again as a hobby and I see that interest in airbrushing is greater than ever - which is great! I have always believed in sharing knowledge and insights. I will post some of the things I've learned in fifteen years.

WELCOME!!! I am sure there are plenty of us who can keep you teaching instead of painting...it's nice to have another experienced painter on the board (Not referring to me...but having you added to our growing list of experienced people)...

It's a pleasure to meet you Ragnanorseman--(I'm sorry but from now on you're just Rag to me!!)..You make perfect sense when it comes to the blow dryer vs. heat press..often my helper is taking orders & a shirt will merely sit under the heat press..I have a large fan set blowing in the same direction so the combo does the job..most of the time when she returns to the shirt she won't even come down with the top--the shirt is already to go..
You've certainly started out being a welcome addition to the forum & I do believe you'll enjoy it....

Thanks Darla,
I can tell from your smile that you really enjoy airbrushing.
And thanks to everyone that welcomed me aboard. I would like to know if others think the [i]blow-dryer[i] setting method is a good idea. I used it for customers shirts when I was really busy even though I had a heat press. When I was not so busy I did both. Also I used it in the classroom where an hot iron wouldnt be a good idea.

Ragnar, as a mod I'm not sure what I can or cannot do (I think it's an honorary title!!)..I'm just a regular visitor to this site who knows a little about lettering & layout..& yes I love airbrushing..I'm self employed, loving what I do, & I'm making a living at it..I'm blessed!!-- tutorials are always nice & I would love to see yours, but Don will have the say on the link as he would know where best to put it anyway..I see no reason your blow dryer method wouldn't work--it's just a matter of getting them hot & dry & there's probably 15 other ways to do this..I'm pleased it works for you..
