Default Qestion about safety/flammability/spray booths

I'm wondering what the most common set-up is that you are using as far as spary booths. I see that there are small tabletop models on up to walk-in ones.
For those of you who do stuff like helmets, bike tanks and fenders, etc., do you even do your own base and clear coats or do you farm them out to autobody shops? From what I'm gathering here, it seems like the base and clears are the ones that are most dangerous. I have a detatched garage and also a basement. I'm assuming that with a tabletop "booth" either should be good for airbrushing, but I'm getting the impression that it's not a good idea to do the two part clears at home. Could someone elaborate on this?
