Default prion base HOK ???

Hi

I would like to know if someone has a picture of a job done with:

- SHIMRINŽ Metallic Bases House hof kolor ORION SILVER (fine or medium).
Just want to see how is this colour.
A customer asked me to paint his sporster with grey colour, just wanted how it looks !
Is it close to silver ? Do we have to spray it over a black or white colour ?
I want a vey light grey colour , not a dark one !

thanks

pat

It's a metalliacy silver Pat. I suppose you could put it over black or white depending how bright you want it.
The SHIMRINS are more of a pearl and the silvers are more of a pearly silver, a smoother and finer silver. Orion siver is a little more course.

No, just saying that HOK has a few different types of silvers and that you have a few options.
Really depends on what you want your based surface to look like or what you are trying to achieve with the silver.
But yes, patinum pearl (pbc-42) is finer than orion silver (bc-02) and probably is the look you are trying to achieve.
Becareful with this pbc-42, if you do not get all your sanding scratches out they will show up really bad.
I sometimes silver it,,, then wetsand it with 800 grit,,, the re-pbc-42 it,,, just to make sure to get rid of scratches that may show the first time.
You don't want to be haunted by scratches after clear.
Just keep a watchful eye.

Thanks diaz

your advices are so helpfull!
I will shot some silver metal and silver pearls over a base coat and will see with the customer what he like . Even if it's not HOK , he will be able to tell me witch effect he prefer (metal or pearl). And then i will buy the HOK product.
That's the problem, i don't have any stock of paints and it's always hard for me to deal with customer about the colour choice or effect.
Maybe i will buy HOK card to help me , but HOK are very expensive here in France, for exemple , platine pearls 1q = 130 euros = 205 $.
It's becoming close to impossible to buy solvant paint here in France, all the sellers and professional user have to use Water paints, solvent paints are forbiden to sell and forbiden to use, except for the non professionel users. So nobody sell it, only one online seller with HOK , no need to tell you that his prices are very high.

thanks again

pat

No problem Pat.
Try to see if you can go on e-bay or even HOK site to see if you can pick up a color chip book so you can at least match HOK colors to the colors that are available to you, solvent or waterbase.
That could help.

Diaz is right on base with this one. One other thing that you can do is when you are shooting your sealer, you can use a metalic sealer. Hoc makes on as well as PPG. Orion silver is great for laying kandy over with the larger flake. HOC also makes a galexy gray that is not too dark. Maybe you can give that a look.
Good luck.
