Re: A portraits...
I actually stumbled across how to do the rings. I was going to do a fine white line. However, a mistake caused me to figure something out. I am using an Iwata HP-C by the way and testors paints. I thinned down the white (about 1:1) so I can work in layers. Testors paints out of the bottle don't go through very well without spitting. So, I was putting a white dot down and I was a little too close to the paper. What happened was, the white dot went down, but because it was thinned, the air pushed the paint outwards...thus forming a ring. Hmm, I said and so I used it on the others. Be careful with it though or you'll make them "spider leg" out. Both images are reduced, but the originals are 11x14 on smooth bristol. I freehanded the whales. The cat I masked off (obviously). I think the cat would be better had I put a background on it. I do graphite pencil portraits for commission and I'm looking to expand my media. I want to try an airbrush monochrome portrait next. However, I'm getting ready to do a real flame/lava paint job on my motorcycle. It'll be my first, but I have a lot of reference photos and I've watched Mickey Harris' dvd, so I'm going to jump in with both feet in the water. Can't be that hard. Right? Ah yes, I can hear all the veterans now..."rookie!"
