The Pitt- Helmet - from every angle
New helmet that I am working on. The Pitt is a comic character. If you pay attention you might be able to unlock some of the secrets to painting a helmet into a character head, viewable from all points of view. I'll keep you posted with progress pictures, and I will answere any of your questions. Thanks. Brad.

Yes.
There is a lot of different mesh like product that you can buy for the visor of the helmet. My favorite is just going to the store and buying the kind that people use for the back windows of their trucks.
1. Take off the visor.
2. Wrap a piece of suran wrap around it nice and tight, to protect it.
3. Roll out enough of the mesh to cover it and cut off your piece.
4. Place little rolls of tape on the back or spray it with spray addhesive.
5. Start folding it over the visor nice and tightly .
6. On the back side cut off the excess leaving about 1/3 of an inch. So you have some thing to fold over when it is all done.
7. Prep the suface with 600-800 sandpaper(dry).
8. Mask off the open area on the helmet. Use little rolls of tape to put the visor in its spot on the helmet.
9. Spray some Prep all on a clean cloth and wipe off all your fingerprints. wait 5 minutes.
10. Wipe off again with a clean dry cloth and again with a tack rag.
Now it is ready to paint.

Re: The Pitt- Helmet - from every angle
Now that I have all the basic parts of his head in it's place on the helmet, and have I have double and tripple checked to make certain it is viewable from all points of view, I lay down a few coats of silver. The guy who I am doing this for has a silver bike. This should fade out your image a bit, wich is fine. The whole point of doing in in black and white was just to find the placement. In the begining there was no need to do any real detail, but now I can.

I really like the bug off car. Thanks. Right now my teeth are a little flat. I'll post up a thread about something , most artist have a hard time with.
How Chiaroscuro works. Chiaroscuro,
uses of light and dark to achieve a heightened
illusion of depth. Learn this and apply it to everything that you can. You will see a world of difference in your work and so will everyone. You rock and Thanks again. Brad.

Thanks Don. I always try my hardest no matter what the subject matter is, no matter how boring something can be. Real fire does get a bit tiresome after a while. Everyone always has there own spin on it and I have seen some awesome spins. I bet you get tired of people asking you can you paint real fire. You propably always say to yourself, how can I make this one different than the last, just so you don't get bored. I know thats what I do.
Brad.
