Hi,, i do this all times helps to get a very fine line with minimum overspray
very handy when painting details,,,but,, beware easy to bend the needle
if you get too close to the support,,

I think you mean the crown cap. If you remove the nozzle, the AB isn't going to work.

Yep... That's what I meant crown cap... When I remove it I only get air no paint.. I'm still learning the anatomy of the airbrush as well...

You said you had a Badger. It doesn't work for Badger Airbrushes. Only for Iwata, Richpen and a few other Japanese made ABs. I know some people have grind down the crown cap on the Badger.

It's fine to learn with, but you might want to upgrade to a better AB someday. A lot of Pros like using Iwata ABs for automotive painting.

It is because he is not using one of these Infinity brushes.

The infinity crown cap is wicked cool, protects the needle but is still very
exposed.

Hi Codepunk and all,

Took Don's advice and got a HP-CS...have only had 1/2 hour or so to mess around with it this week but already got some neat new looks on some of my kits. Looking forward to learning all it can do.

Question about the Iwata crown cap: I hear it's meant mainly to allow more close-up work than the stock cap will allow. But the 'prongs' on the c.c. stick out farther than the stock cap and I can't really get any closer than before. At this point I'd just as soon take Don's tip and leave the stock cap off when getting really up close (did this yesterday, it really made a difference), and just take the c.c. back to the store.

Am I missing the point of the c.c.? Any other reason to hang onto it? Thanks!!!
