Looks good man! I did a panel very similar to yours a while back. (I donated it for a friends benefit auction) The pic was taken before it was cleared.
Guess great minds think alike LOL.

Re: New skull and flames...newbie
Hey Shovel,
Your fire is definatly getting there, a bit more freehand and some work on the brighter highlights will help you out with the pop factor.
I agree that when you look at fire master Dagwood's flames it can sometime make a person even wonder why we even try when Dag's are just an example of perfect realistic fire.
But truth be known, Dagwoods work is just inspiring, I couldn't tell you how many times I look at examples of dag's work each and every day. I only hope that one day my crappy efforts will be as well regarded.
keep at it Shovel, your progressing well mate.

You're fire is WAAAYYYY better than mine was when I started. Like rowie said, more freehand hand brighter highlights will help you. Also, keep in mind that with fire, I've found that sometimes less is more.

Re: New skull and flames...newbie
You see, I think it is because I keep wanting to revert back to my old school flames, like I used to do on choppers . It almost looks like a mix of the two. My hand won't mind my brain. I'll get there ,but you are right,I also have copies of Dags flames hanging in my shop as we speak. I made copies this morning. Don't want to be a copy cAT ,but I just want to get started right. Thanks again,

Everybody kind of has their own style anyway, I've found that trying to duplicate someone else's is very difficult. You're doing great man, keep up the good work!

Re: New skull and flames...newbie
It took me awhile to figure out the steps with the transparents and solid colors. A friend of mine gave me Mike Lavalee's tru fire dvd and a light bulb went off. I haven't mastered it yet but I'm getting closer. Luckily somebody let me test out underneath the hood, they wouldn't let me go off on top of the hood yet. Keep it up though, just like Darla said, practise makes perfect.
