Smile New and Lost

Hi Everyone,
I posted for the first time a few days ago and can't believe the great answers I got from some real fine artists. I'm 63 and have been carving birds for nearly 30 years. I have been painting with sable brushes and artist oils, but like anything else, if I don't change with the times I'll get left behind pretty quickly. Some artists are painting birds with airbrushes, and there's just no way I can compete with them when it comes to blending and detail work. I just bought a VL brush, and I'm waiting for a Silentaire compressor to come in the mail. In the meantime I have a million questions to ask, and just like the air brush I'm new to the computer too, so if I post in the wrong forum I appologize in advance. I really appreciate all the help I've received so far, and really am looking forward to this exciting way to paint my carvings. Thanks to all who helped me so far.

Hello Paulieboy,

I'm new to airbrushing too, so won't be able to give any advice, however, there is a wealth of information on this forum, along with very knowledgeable artist, who are happy to help. Good luck with the airbrushing.

Hi xzotic ink,
I don't have any pictures of my carvings that I can post in the forum, only regular photos, but I just got a new digital camera, and I have a computer guy to show me how to work it, (to begin my 37th nervous breakdown!!!) so as soon as I get over the trauma of learning about it, I'll post some pictures. Thanks for the welcome.

One thing you can do when you have a question is try the search feature of the forum. There is a link at the top of the pagein the blue bar. Type in a key word such as compressor or VL to find posts that contain the word you have questions about. Sometimes this will get your answer faster than posting it. If you can not find the answer, post away and we will be happy to help!

Hey redneck,
I have a guy coming over this week. I had a paper jam in my printer and reached in with a pair of those real long needle nose pliers and yanked the guts out of the piece of junk. Since I'd spent 30 years in the Steamfitter's union, I don't have the touch of an eye surgeon. Anyway, this computer guy I know is bringing a new printer, and he's going to try and teach me about the camera. If I can learn how to use it (I guess they're all pretty much the same?) I'll let you know and maybe I can tell you what he told me. But thanks for the message, I appreciate it.
