Hi there,
Well the title says it all really.
History: At school I did a little art - gave it up for grades in subjects I thought more important - science, maths etc etc. at the time my art teachers were a little disapointed but understood. Trouble was I was always a little to impaitent I think - would always overwork stuff and therefore get frustrated. Advance forward many many more years and here I am living in Australia, with my wife and 20 month old son. A little more time on my hands and looking for a hobby to take up. Something I can get enjoyment out of - not looking to make a living or anything. So I thought art. Why not I used to enjoy it.
The Problem: I never though I was really that at it. Though others said some of the stuff I did at school was good I always saw it as my own and could see every single flaw - dont know perhaps this is common perhaps it is just me who knows. I mean perspectives - shadows, shading I could see what was needed and at times I knew it was just a matter of practice to get those curves just looking right but at the time I had no time for it, something I kind of regret these days.
So Why Airbrush Art: Interesting question i find myself asking. Rather than pen/pencil/paint and paper? It is something I have never tried before I guess. Have seen the TV Shows on discovery and marvelled at some of the artwork produced on the Bike & Car makeover shows, it was a craft show that actually fired up my curiousty though. Painting gift boxes, Teeshirts, even canvesses or anything around the house - project doesn't have to be grand to be fun.
What do I expect: Alot of hard work and practicing basics to get anything like compentent, lessons would be great but seems out here In Western Australia it is an artform rarely practiced. Web searches and contacting local art suppliers have lead me to a single supplier who can sell me equipment locally and only two companies who train - both the other side of the country many thousands of miles away. So the net was cast further and I found this site. Not only did I discover a useful comunnity I found there are magazines out there as well, Will need to check local newsagents to see if they carry them.
With such a long and useless Intro what do I hope to achieve: A little patience, I truely will so as much searching as I can when it comes to researching answers to questions but if I miss something and post please bear with me. It is all very new to me and seeing some of the art on this site and others a very intimidating hobby indeed.
Off to read up on alot of new stuff now - including trying to catch all the basics such as difference in equipment and whats good for beginners. Love the fact there are tutorials on the site

I am such a new comer though I have not even rushed out to get gear yet - firmly of the opion if I take up a hobby I do not want substandard gear causing me to give up something before I fully explore it. That said I have seen a nice review section as well I guess I have alot of study to do!
Thanks for allowing me access to the forums !
