Default New here and to airbrushing

Hi I am new to all of this. I just wanted to say that this forum is great. I have been lurking for a few days now just reading what I could and looking at some of the amazing pieces of art. I just started actually airbrushing yesterday and I was just wondering about fine lines. I am using a Badger 200 single action AB and a small compressor with a one gallon tank. The tank shuts off at 100psi. When I do fine lines I will get a few that are real nice and fine but then the paint started spotting or just doesnt come out at all. I have tried cleaning to try to stop dry tip but that doesnt seem to help much. Just wondering if when I buy an air reg/water catch, if this will help at all. Sorry for such a long rant.

The regulator and filter should help tremendously spc. From what I understand, ya don't have a regulator, and yer compressor is running at 100 psi all the time. Thats not good, for abing or your compressor. Get a regulator and filter as soon as ya can, i think you;ll see a big difference. oh yeah, the type of paint yer useing has a lot to do with that also.

thanks for such a quick reply. I thought so and I had planned on buying a regulator this weekend. Being that I am on a budget like most I was being cheap as long as I could. Probably not the best way to start out at something. thanks again

another quick question: I have seen and read that taking the crown tip off of an AB gets a finer tip. Does anybody know if this is not true for the badger 200. When I take the tip off the air works but the paint will not spray.
