Need to vent
As some of you know i've been having a hell of a time with my ab city compressor. They heat up too fast, did the fan trick. It worked ok for a while.
Now it just plain died.Called ab city again bitched up a storm. Wanted my money back. They said i won't get the full amount back because i used the abs.The abs work good but the comp. sucks. Now there sending me anotherone made by galaxy. So i feel i don't have much of a choice. Now it's going to be another week or so without practicing. To top it off i'm having trouble with with the wave design that don has on the site. Can't seem to get the wave motion right. To embarassed to post it. Maybe i'm not to be a ab artist since i don't have any artistic background at all.Or anyone to teach me. Sorry for the long post just needed to vent.
Here's the comp. they are sending me.

Re: Need to vent
Don't let a bad compressor stop you from doing airbrushing. In life people and things will always try to stop you. Nobody here will. While you are waiting just post some of the things that you have done and we will all try to give you positive critique(do not be embarassed we all had to start somewhere) so that by the time you get the compressor you will have already got better even if only in the mind. Before you know it will be second nature for you. Also, be a boyscout (be prepared). If you are not happy with airbrush city compressors start saving for a wall mart one with a long hose and an oil/water trap in the meantime. So if your abc go's out you have a back up that will last. I beleive you will end up great at this, just as long as you keep the attitude you had in the beginning. You can do it.

Re: Need to vent
Dude!!.... I have absolutly no artistic ability or background whatsoever. I've just been practicing sketching and painting. After a while I found myself noticing things I never would have seen before. Like for instance before I started to AB I would look at... for instance a candle. I would see... a candle plain and simple. After painting for a few months I realized I now see so much more than a candle. I see the how light makes the texture of the candle look like different colors. How light plays off the shape of it to make shadows. How the shadows look in respect to the color of the candle. I could go on for quite sometime. I have never been able to draw or paint... I found out you just need to practice at it. The first sketches I did were absolute garbage, but I learned from them. For months I tried to draw and sketch and paint. They all looked like garbage... to me. As I looked back on some of the things I did I saw something... PROGRESS! I noticed I was perceiving objects differently and being able to judge sizes more accurately. This is the road you must travel. Just be persistant.... stay vigilant, it will come to you with practice. If I can do it and I'm 30 years old... you can do it!!

Re: Need to vent
Hey Ralhp dont get down hearted. I am 50, been at it for six months and cant get a dot, line, or dagger going to save my life. Once in a while I play with some stencils to relieve the bordem of practiceing. You just have to keep going and you will get there. That,s what I beleive.

Ralph, I couldn't agree more with KD here. How can we help you if we cant see what you are doing.
That's what a lot of us are here for, not only for our own help but to share what we have learned and to pass that onto others.
The magic of this forum is that we are all different, we are all at different stages of experience, knowledge and specialty all available to you.
Don't give up mate, dig in and let us help.

Re: Need to vent
Thanks Everyone,
First, sorry i didn't repley sooner, today was my sons b-day party. All rugrats are gone now.
Your all right,i've had time to cool down and think about it.I'm not gonna let a compressor spoil my goals. The wife says i get down on myself too fast, because things come pretty easy to me. There's not to much i can't fix around the house. Thats what i do for a living, maintenence super for apt. building. So when i can't figure something out i get frustrated.
It is a dream for the wife and i to open up a shop. She makes jewlery, candles, soap lotion and she started doing embroidery and i'm pretty good at designing greeting cards, business cards and flyers and i thought airbrushing t's and canvas would be a nice addition.
The wife supports me, and told me take some of the money the goverment is rebating and buy the compressor i need and a good ab. I just might do that. I really want an iwata eclipse, but i usually spend it on the kids.
As for postig what i did, in my temper tanterm i toss out all my practice pieces, but i got a pretty cool boss. He said i can use the compressor in the shop, of course after hours. Now that's a compressor i want. It's a craftsman 5hp 35gal. tank i think.
Sorry for ranting on and thank you all for your support!!! Come hell or high blood pressure i will be a air brush artist!!!

Re: Need to vent
I feel your pain mate. I come here to vent sometimes too. I think it's because people on this site share the same frustrations at one time or another. I been ABs for 4 years and I have posted some of my work here, and I still get problems. I got just a conventional everyday compressor. 1.5 HP 24 Ltrs. I use it for ABs pumping up car tyres, blowing down dust and I have a HVLP spraygun. It cost me $100 at the local hardware store. The only thing I can't or wouldn't do, is a complete spray job on cars. I can spray helmets, motorbike petrol tanks and fridges with it. I have had that for 4 years and it has never let me down. Fortunately for me I'm out in the garage because, as I say, it is a conventional compressor and it is a bit noisy, but I couldn't do without it.
Don't be embarrassed about your work that's why we come here. Post what you have done show us the area that your not happy with and you will find that someone ie. me and others, will steer you in the right direction.
