Default need some clarification re compressors

Okay, I'm totally new and have ordered the DVD instruction video Don recommends for newbies, also following advice on using ready to use golden paints. I bought Airbrush: AZTEK A470 kit. Compressor: Scorpion I.

My question: The compressor only came with the water trap. Do I need a regulator? If yes, do i need a special type?
I trying like crazy to assemble what is I need to start practicing the lessons on this web site, it is just I'm not sure and I've been searching in the forums to get a better understanding. Like the water filter has these openings on the sides, what are these for? Does a special type regulator use these holes? Can I just buy a standard type regulator from my local HomeDepot and screw that into the line-out of the water trap?
Anyway, any and all advice is most welcomed.
Thanks,
Byron

You will need a regulator to control the different pressures while airbrushing. higher psi for thicker paint, and lower psi for milk consistency paint. the "holes" in the water trap are for your hoses, they are marked with an arrow for the direction of airflow and that is how u route your hoses. most reg. and traps take 1/4"NPT fittings. if u are unsure, take it to home depot or whatever and they can get u squared away
