Default Need help, problems with Airbrush

I really need some help guys and gals. I've been struggling for awhile with the usual problems like being a rookie, tip dry, etc. but now I've got one I can't seem to figure out. My airbrush skips.... it would be the worlds greatest airbrush for painting passing lines on roads in a picture for sure. So I read the manual that came with the brush (Iwata, Revolution BCR) it says, paint to thick, so I cut the paint some and some more.... second it says pressure to high.... so I try all pressures.... I'm ready to give up on this brush.... HELP!

I've attached a photo, the black lines are Auto Air cut with their reducer... and just to prove my point, the blue lines are Auto Air straight from the bottle.... air pressures are written on the side, 20 all the way up to 70 and it still skips.....

Any ideas?

Oh yeah, this was done right after cleaning the airbrush!

Compressor is a Sears with a tank, pressure regulator and an added moisture trap. I drain the compressor each time I use it, and have never had moisture in the line trap.

Looks like ya may have a damaged needle tip, cd. It doesn't take a big lot of damage to mess ya up. Ya may also want to try straining your paint through a piece of old stockings.

I know that you said that you cleaned the brush, but most of the time (for me) the skipping that you are getting has been caused by a clogged tip. dosent take much, just a tiny bit of junk can cause the skips. Did you clean the needle and tip as well? Also, the nozzle cap? If it sprayed right once, it can again man.
Good luck.

Well, TABG, I did clean the nozzle, needle and nozzle cap, I'm kindof anal about that stuff but, I think KD was right on with his assessment. I've noticed a funny feeling when putting the nozzle back on for the past month... I thought I had almost stripped the threads. Well, I got out my doctor's magnifier glasses and with a magnifying glass I was able to see the threads almost completely separated from the nozzle, hence the funny feeling when tightening the nozzle..... Now to try to find replacement parts to see IF that fixes the problem.
I'll give an update when the parts come in.
Thanks you two.

Hey Cliff, those nozzles are very delicate so be careful when screwing back on. It's only supposed to be finger tight or snug. Too tight and you tear the threads from the nozzle itself. I know cause I did the same thing my first time cleaning it and they're not cheap - $75 for the Iwata HP-C replacement!

Dean.
