RC Racing is what caused me to get my AB. I have alot of money tied up in my little cars. Kyosho Mini Z's are my sickness. 1/28th scale. They fit in the palm of your hand. I have 8 of them with a track and timing system. Only a small fortune invested.

Yeah, R/C is what got me into ABing also. I've got a nice collection of vehicles and now I'm starting a collection of brushes.

Check out www.cfxpaintworks.com for more info about painting R/C bodies.

What a funny world, scale models and 1:10 R/C is what got me into airbrushing also.

Although I cant race anymore I still have about 7 cars, 6 electric and the schumacher Fusion (slightly modified, 158kph in 3rd).

I have a Tamyia mini, a tamiya evo 3, a Losi, 2 Missions and a new carbon M2. love them all, but they are just collecting dust these days so they're up for sale soon.

RC is why I am getting into AB also. Actually I just got into RC at xmas and I already have 3 cars and 1 truck with an extra 3 body's that I need to modify. I have the cheaper Xmods but have 3 bodies for the Mini Z that I am going to mod to fit the xmods.

I am going to get iwata brush and compressor for my b-day on the 27th. and I'm thinking of building my own track. Right now where racing in a school parking lot.

this is one of my first attempts at flames. It's on a 1:28 scale truck.
It still needs to be wet-sanded and cleared.

R/C is responsible for a ton of new airbrushers. Actually both industries have been growing by leaps and bounds. I've been busy this past year helping a friend with a site that focuses on just R/C painting. That site just had it's very first birthday, has now over one million hits, 10,000 posts on about 1,000 different topics and over 1,800 members. Many of them are very new at airbrushing and many of the ones that have been airbrushing for a year or more, ventured off to airbrush T-shirts, bikes, cars and many other things.
The airbrush industry is growing rapidly.

Suspekae, that's an awesome flame job on such a small scale. Very nice!

hey Suspekea, I love the flames you have there, but I notice that your painting the outside of the body shell, I can honestly say that I have never painted the outside of a shell.

Rowie,

The 1/28 scale cars are all painted on the outside as they use a different shell. The truck in the pic is an F150 Xmod (Evolution Chassis).

So what is the "correct" procedure for painting the little buggers?

Prep
Sand
Primer
base coats
wet sand
clear coat?

Does that sound about right?

I miss my RC days. I used to race regularly when I was about 12-13 . I ran started with a kyosho ultima, then moved to a RC-10 T both modified to run indoor carpeted roadcourse. I also raced 1/12th scale onraod cars for awhile. Those were the days, embarasing older guys (some of them didnt take too kindly to being beat by a kid. I still have most of my equipment but havent ran anything in probably 16 or 17 years. Maybe I should get back into it so that I have something to paint with this new airbrushing hobby I'm getting into.
