My newest project pics
I drew by hand with regular pencil, a 16X 20 picture, then stumbled along with frisket and airbrush to whatever way it seemed to lean...I learned to never use cheap paper even to practice as it lifts horribly and ruins things, and that White really is a stinker!!!
The spot under her bellybutton and on her wing are a few areas it lifted badly...stupid Walmart paper...lol
but , learning experience was good.
In these pictures i haven't done her wings yet, but that's where it really got ruined...i got frustrated and, well lol....it got out of hand!!!
(Is THIS the TOP OF THE LEARNING CURVE YET?!?!?)

Re: My newest project pics
Your drawing skills are great and I can see that your AB skills are coming along but it seems that you need to get more control over your AB. Something that has always helped me was doin' the dagger and dot exercises. I do these exercises everytime right before I do any illustration, even just freehanding a pic of an eyeball or a feather off to the side. You just seem like you would be a great freehand artist. Darla has some great exercises that would help plus using a different surface to AB on. You can look in the t-shirt threads for them. I'll post them when I find them.
I hope you don't mind me critiquing,
DIAZ

Me again!
Here is a thread that has great airbrush exercises. I don't know to post to take you right to it but here is where it is located : INTRODUCE YOURSELF-"introducing myself" by Joyce - reply #10 by Darladidit. I hope you find this useful.

Re: My newest project pics
hey Diaz!!!...i don't mind 'critique' at all!!!...I know the intention and I know i need to learn alot, so it's great---thank you! It is very very welcomed and valued!
I found white blobs out of my gun, like on her top..I will practice more daggers though. this must be tip dry?
Q--does 'illustration board' hold up under erasing/frisket work without millions of tiny surface barbs like what I used?
Q--should pencil drawings be coated with matte protectant before nexrt steps?
thanks , Lisa

Re: My newest project pics
silvermyst, illistration board will hold up to erasing, as long as it is not overdone. Check out some of Aixguys work, most all of his portraits are done on illistration board and he does use erasers.

Re: My newest project pics
Illustration board works great, there are many different kinds though-I make sure it is acid free core. I would recommend use a fixative or a matt finish over your your pencil work. My avatar was painted in 1989-It started as a pencil drawing and the color work is water thin washes of liquitex acrylic mixed with their matt varnish. It has held up well over the years I just wish I used a better illustration board. Bristol board also works well for airbrushing and is a nice surface to do pencil work on, it holds up to erasing well comes in pads or you can get heavy weight hot press surface bristol board from a real art store.

Re: My newest project pics
Lisa,
I wish I could sketch/draw like you girl, that is just fantastic.
Your brush work will come along with practice, and dagger strokes are part of the foundation, work on them and in no time you will be amazed with the improvement in your brush work.
I know this because of the improvement people can see in my last works.
And if I can do it, Anyone can.
take care and keep the faith
