Default moisture trap --- is it absolute ?

Well, decided on what to buy for the AB, i have a nail compressor tank with a regulator at home. Is it critical to have a moisture trap to use the AB, i don't see alot of discussion about it, is that because some uses it and some don't ???

thank you.

I think everyone would use one, if you don't you will get moisture build up in compressor and hose and this will cause your gun to spit and splutter at the most inconvenient times.

I've seen inline moisture trap that you split the hose in two, it is the cheapest that i've found. Any chance of finding it at Home depot or equivalent ?

I was shopping at LOWE yesterday for compresser parts and they got a water filter, the ones that I seen at home depot were better--make

In Canada, you can get them, as well as pressure regulators at Canadian Tire.

That's what I bought for a bigger older compressor I had, and the regulator is better than the screw type of airbrush compressors.

I paid $12 for mine at walmart. It’s not worth second guessing for $12, IMO

I run 2 moisture traps, one about 2 foot off the compressor(which is outside) and another at a bulkhead fitting at the inside wall, there is about 30 feet between the compressor and the wall.. Never have a problem with water, I empty the traps everytime I drain the compressor..

So what your guys are saying is 6 feet of hose is too short to prevent moisture ?

Blueshark, It was explained to me that you want to be further away from the compressor to allow the air to cool and the moisture in the air to condense and seperate. Warm air right from the compressor does not allow this. Worse case I guess coiling a longer hose on the floor aould give ou your "distance".

I'm a newbie so take this with a grain of salt. Just passing along what I have heard.

Gtech, where are you in Canada? Just moved to the Brooks, Alberta area froom Wichita, Kansas a few months ago.

Exact! I'm in Quebec city...

I'm feeling alone in the airbrush domain here. Not a lot of airbrushers around me.

Welcome here Glisson.

Btw, I use a a 6 feet hose with a moisture trap for my airbrush, and I can tell you that I had to empty the moisture trap bottle everyday this summer...

But it stays empty in the winter.
