Hello,
This is my first post although I've been a member for a little while.
I mostly do R/C bodies but I've been trying some other things also.
I've still got lots to learn so thank you for any comments you care to make.
Here are a few, nothing to crazy.

Thank You.
Wil.

As always Wil, nice stuff! What chassis is under that camaro? Building a Drag car is on my list to do. Probably won't be until this time next year though.

Maxx, that is the New Era Pro Stock 12" wheelbase chassis with an Axial .28 for power. Its a nice looking billet chassis, the Camaro body isn't an exact fit so I'm working on 2 new ones for it.
Quickchange, Thank you. When you are ready to do one I would be glad to help.

I thought that might be a New Era chassis, but I haven't kept up with them much lately.
Looks killer, how's it run?

Welcome to the boards btw. I'm sure you've found out by now, you'll learn everything you need from this site and the very helpful people here. I've been plugging along at painting for a couple years now and most everything I've learned has been from these wonderful members.

It is scary fast and has had the front end replaced already do to a miscalculation of it's abilities. This belongs to my friend, he keeps me busy with paint work considering he has at last count 50 r-c cars, trucks, boats and planes.

Wow! A I thought I was pushing the envelope with ten R/cs.I am presently building a Tamia Clod Buster. I can't wait to start painting the body. My color scheme is translucent pearl violet with Fushia and lime green over sprays. Should look OK if I don't screw it up. Bash on

Welcome Wil, those lexan shells are very nice mate, certainly put mine to shame for sure.

And with 50+ R/C cars and boats, has your mate been checked out for OCD?

I thought I was bad at collecting stuff.

what good are flames on a car moving so fast that all you see is a blur , most of the trucks in a truck-pulling contest that were on TV today were sporting painted flames ,the flames was easy to see at the slow speed

Exclamation Re: models, rc painting

Although I must say we are miles off track here guys, I guess what i'm trying to say is that although I love cars in all forms I would love to see more stuff on R/C and modelling.

For many years I loved building scale models but rarely did I paint them, I believe this was mainly due to me being scared whitless that I would stuff the whole thing up. The same reason why I never endevored to get heavilly into colouring the leatherwork and saddlework that I made over the many years, 2 things I painted turned out pretty well by all accounts but then came a big display mural, the scene was very intricate and took nearly 6 months to carve and hand beat all of the details.
At that point I was pretty proud of my work so far, as they say "pride commeth before a fall", and so it did. Using the Tandy leather enamles I carefully worked out what and how to paint the design. But fate had other ideas.

Lets just say that after 4 days of work trying to get it right I ended up throwing the whole thing on the fire in disgust, and never put colour to another thing.

About 8 years ago I was at a friends house and found him to also be into scale models, heavier that I was at the time, we got talking and over time he helped me overcome some of my fears in adding colour to the creations that we made, it was he that gave me the Aztek 470 and introduced me to airbrushing.

As we all know one thing led to another and slowly I became more aware of what airbrushing could achieve. But I was still reluctant to use colour.

After a period of nearly 2 years being very ill, I found myself to be extreemly weak, poor sighted, and suffering with tremmors or shakes in my hands. With over 100 scale models in my shed and at least 4 that I dearly want to get finished I find that I am now unable to work on them in the slightest, my hands and eyes lack the steadfastness needed to handle the delicate work involved. This was and is heartbreaking to me each and every day.

In the end my company was disbanded from underneath me, my 2IC now works with my then largest client and I had to start from scratch.

Rather depressing sorry, but there is a point to all this.

I was told by a close friend that I needed to get out of the black hole I was in and redirect my energies into something other than just working 16+ hours a day. So with cap in hand I ventured into restoring these old cars I now have, and I love it. At the same time I was invited to attend a 2 day airbrushing course. The work I saw there was aweinspiring and the course began, I loved it, we ended up doing a nice monocolour of some hands, I think I did a fair job, nothing great but fair, everyone else loved it.

But no colour!

So untill now most of my ventures into colour had been nothing short of crushing failures except for a few scale models and the 1:10 R/C lexan body shells. I had actually sold a fair few of those to my surprise.

Then I came here and my world changed. I saw all the examples of flames, fire, tee's, OMG you name it! Such a collective of vibrant people with such energetic colours in their hearts, what is a guy to do?

So with my new friends a heap of encouragement I ventured into realistic flames and after 5 attempts I managed to produce a reasonable result with the computer case for my parents. Not overly happy with it but who can argue when the family was over the moon with it.

Now I have Darla's wonderful instruction and inspiration to try my hand at Tee's, QC's awesome work, kimmo, dougie, Don, just everyone, you are all inspiring to me.
But still I am shit scared to try fine art, colours, portraits, stuff like that, god knows that I despiratly want to be able to produce work of all types that I can be proud of. At this point in time I can't see it, I believe in time somehow I just might, that is what keeps me going.

This is why I wan't to see more of what this topic is about, it keeps me alive.

Show me your work guys, whatever it is, make me smile.
