Question Metal wide mouth jars?

I work a lot with my Paasche VL brush using 1oz bottles etc. At the end of my sessions I wash all my siphon caps out in lacquer thinner which I keep in a wide mouth glass jar with a screw on cap. (I'm using HOK paints etc.) That's because I swish the jar around a bit to help wash out the caps. Then I pull the caps out and let them dry naturally.
Here is the problem, last night my glass jar sprang a leek. I was able to contain the mess but I certainly need to find a better container for cleaning the caps. Any ideas? It must be solvent resistant and have a screw on lid with a minimum capacity of 16 oz or better.

That might work. I guess I can try it and see how it goes. All my past experience with lacquer thinners tells me to stay away from the household plastics. The thinner does effect them over a period of time. I've got some inquiries out to several of the jar and bottle manufacturers about their HDPE plastics. They are solvent resistant but I need a specific on the issue of the lacquer thinners.
Thanks for the idea Heartless. I'll give it a shot and see what happens. I'll post my findings as they come in.

hmm, now that you mention it kimmo - i believe places like Home Depot sell empty metal paint cans...might be a possibility for you there too Marty.

Any auto/body paint store sells metal cans for the paint to store mixed paint in. Or what ever. I buy them all the time.

Thanks everyone, I do have empty Qt. size paint cans but I guess I've gotten a bid lazy. I've gotten so used to the screw on cap. No prying open, no double checking to make sure the lid is secure before I start "swishing parts around etc. If I'm using my 1/4 oz. cups a lot, I'm throwing them in the wash frequently and grabing them as I need them. I do so many color changes that leaving the lid off between things concerns me. Both because of the fumes and possible spilling of the contents.
I checked on the HDPE Florinated containers but they do not make anything with that wide mouth. So I'll just have to stay with the glass jar until I can figure out some other way. Honestly I've thought about producing such an item for resale. Some where in my head I remember seeing wash containers that had a basket inside that you could put your items in and pull them out never making contact with the liquid inside the can. Sort of like a french fry basket in hot oil. Have any of you ever seen one of those?

did you know that the large p-nut butter jars are solvent resistant? I use them all the time, I go thru many (kids, brand is jif) and use them for storage in my wood barn. One day I needed something to dump some cleaner into, I tried it, didn't warp, mineral spirits, automotive thinners , no problems. Plus the lids screw on. And they are wide mouthed! might try that~

another addition, go to the automotive paint shops, ask for a mixing cup with lid. We have several here, they hold a qt, lids snap on, and are air tight. When they get soiled, rubb them with fresh cleaner and a terry rag. Even if stuff dries in there like mixed paint, it will peel out. My hubby's work (a napa ) will give them away with paint mixes(they have the ratios marked on them) but I bet if you ask, theyd give you one~

THanks Witchy. I'm going by my paint store today and I'll ask. I'll try the PB jars as well. I'll put some lacquer thinner in one and let it sit a week. I'll post the results. Again thanks.
