what is the best way to render lightning....i have to put some lbolts on a mini
nascar racer....color scheme is predominately black with some red.....

2 ways-

Rip two thick halves of thick paper in a some what chaotic pattern
hold stencil above surface and spray a soft edge [white with a dab of your color choice/ usually blue]
next lay stencil on project and make the hard edge of the lightning

or

lay the base lines of the lightning, then come back with layers spraying further back causing a fog effect
