Ok...here is my latest. About 2.5 hours, no frisket...minor shields...let me know what you think. Critique welcome. I have trouble with eyes...to me it looks like she got slapped upside the head. I think it is about time for me to invest in lessons and videos...

Thanks for looking.

You know it amazing...last night I looked at the picture and was slightly mad because one of the eyes look off...after a night's sleep, I come back and the eyes don't look off as much. I still see it, but I know its there.

As far as the model goes...I am a huge Jennifer Garner fan (yes, even the hokey "chick flicks"...)...however, before the wife lets me keep it out, I have to paint her a stupid Patrick Dempsey picture. What an ugly subject

Hi grinnen,, it Looks good so far, agree with you the eyes are not that easy
no matter if it's animals or human,,some how when i draw/paint portraits
i always start with the eyes and build up the face from there,,but that's me.

that's the trick if you are getting upset and thinking that the painting is going overboard,,leave it over night,, next day you'll see allkind of things
sometimes it makes you wonder what was i thinking,,,how could i do this or that,,,or it can look perfect,,even that the night/day before you almost throu
it in the trashcan,,this has happend to me manny times

keep on your good work,,,Btw will you add colors or do it in black and white

I don't know...I would think if I was to add color, I should have done that first. So far, I have stuck with monocolors...I think my next one will be in color...

I think I may go back and darken it up a little...I tried to give her eyelashes, but I had to pull them out before that photo was taken...so the board has a little extra scraping on it, and it might not react well to paint...

It looks very good except the right eye. I think the right eye looks a little japanese eyed so to speak. The bottom eyelid ,I think is a little too angled. Can you see what I'm seeing? If you could change the angle of the right eye,I think you would have it.

I see what you are saying and that is the same thing my wife said...however, before getting my HP-C I was using my badger, and I had a real bad habit of spilling paint or dropping the cup...so this photo suffered a catastrophic disaster. I do this so frequently it has become funny, but frustrating.

Oh well, I have three projects in the mill and then I think I will revisit her...plus one of the projects should really help grow my skill...so it could be much better...

Dude ,whatever you do ,don't give up on that one. You had that thing goin your way. It was almost perfect in my eyes, except that one thing. I grew up drawing people using charcoal, and whatever else I could find. So, I think you should keep that one in your lineup.

I am coming back to it...but the nice black splatter on her left cheek just really doesn't fit in the scheme of the picture (literally)...I am saving a electronic high-resolution photo gallery for building my portfolio...so I at least have up to that stage...
