iwata Kustom brushes (CH and CS)
http://www.dixieart.com/Iwata_Kustom_Series.htm
i've been looking into the iwata brushes lately and have come across this kustom line and really like the features for what i want to do...i already have a syphon brush for my shading and larger backround work...but i would really like to get a nice gravity feed gun that will let me explore more detail and start doing more "airbrushing" (still a newb) the two i was looking at was the kustom CH and the Kustom CS...i like the mac valve on the CH but the CS is said to work better with metallics, pearls, and basecoats, which i use a lot of, (automotive)...and is it worth the extra $100?? or would the CS be a better gun for me at my level?
i look forward to your responses!! thanks!

Re: iwata Kustom brushes (CH and CS)
I have an Iwata Eclipse and i use it alot in all my fine detailing its not a gravity fed. the gravity fed one i do have is a Vega and is does have some things you have to watch out for but like i said i dont know if the iwata is the same but if your finger is alittle fast on the pulling back befor pushing down on the air. or if you let up off the air befor letting go of the paint you'll get a stream or splatter do to the gravity..if you do think about buying a grvity fed brush go to the product review forum...every one ive asked about gravity fed didn't recomend it....

Re: iwata Kustom brushes (CH and CS)
I have the HP-C+ which has a smaller cup and maybe a shorter trigger, not sure if anything else is different in the Kustom series. I also owned a HP-CS which I sold.
The CS is a great bursh for the money and the only reason I sold it was because It didn't fit my hand the way I liked. I also DO NOT use solvent based paints, which is where this brush excells I believe.
The MAC valve is a very nice feature and I do use it often, I have an HP-BH with the MAC as well, and probably will someday buy the CM with the MAC.
Is it worth $100, probably, but it all depends on how hard $100 is to come by.
If you are going to shoot Solvent base paints and you want to shoot metalics and perls, my advice, based on what others have said in the past, is go for the CS.

Re: iwata Kustom brushes (CH and CS)
well i spoke with my art teacher today and he said that the CH would be able to spray the pearls and metallics fine...im still not sure if i want to front the other 100 for the mac valve and better detail though...because the rest of the money is going twords either an iwata lph-50 or a sata minijet...

The nice thing about the mac is you don't have to go to the regulator if you need to adjust the air in the middle of work. If you are spaying a large area and then need to do some really small stuff, sometimes you may want to drop the presure a bit.. the mac lets you do it on the fly.. is it worth it.. well.. like they say.. if you don't have something, you won't miss it..

Re: iwata Kustom brushes (CH and CS)
but do you think the CH will spray the pearls, metallics, and basecoats (all solvent based) as good as the CS? because if its a significant difference, i dont want to sacrifice what i need it for (automotive basecoat, metallic, and pearl spraying characteristics), for a convenience (detail and mac valve)

No idea, as I said, others that have the CS love it for automotive work.

Yes, a regular CS will work as well as the Kustom CS. It doesn't have as big a color cup or the taller trigger the nozzle size is the same.
