Question Hurricane Rita hit me hard!!!!

I know that its been a long time since the hurricane but i am just now able to get to a normal life...i had to move and it has been hard for me...

my airbrush was damaged and i am looking to get another...my last was a Paashe VL...i really didnt like to too much anyway. im looking to get a gravity fed so that i can have a silent compressor.( since i am now in an apartment)

are there any suggestions?? im still a newbie and not skilled..i was getting my daggers and dots down really well when the hurricane hit... just looking to start back up.

any help would be greatful

Take a look at this post and check out the review section of the forum.

I like the Iwata HP series for a first brush, but RichPen makes a brush almost exactly like them but it costs less. This is truely a million $ question.

I have never heard one run, but if they have the pump like you would have in a fridge then they are about as loud as a fridge compressor, since that is what it is. I tried building one, but don't have the correct pressure switch yet. My big shop compressor is completely silent in the basement.. but you can hear it is you are outside. Sorry I can't give you more info on them
On the brush issues, I started with VL, then an anthem, then an HP-BH and finally lastly an Eclipse CS. After which I know I would have liked the HP-C much much more than the Eclipse. This is just me, other people love the eclipse, it is personal preference and bush to hand fit. Everyone is different.
Have a good one!

sorry about your tragety !! I read a suggestion in a post here before about lifting the compressor off the ground to stop the vibration from goin threw the floor ..or maybe a box with ventilation...as far as the brushes I dont cant help I have an anthem 155 it was my first but I think I also want a gravity feed brush. I hear there better for detail work..

The Createx compressor is simply the SIMair by another name. That's what I use to airbrush at home, and I live in a condo.

http://www.dixieart.com/TC2000.html

It is not as silent as a real real silent compressor, but not as costly either. What I hear is mostly the air input. I want to try to add a muffler at this input someday. The pressure is good, I used it with a VL, and then with my HP-CP without any problem of pressure. I should record it some day and compare it with another source of noise.

About the airbrush, I would suggest the HP line from Iwata if you can, or the Richpen brand depending on what you need.

I began with the Paasche VL because that's what they sell to beginners, but if I had to start all over again, I would have bought an Iwata Eclipse or Revolution to start with. Then after a year, I would have bought the HP-CP as I did. I love it...

I would like to try my hand at a Richpen, but they are not available around where I live. And I like to hold one in my hands now when I buy an airbrush.

hey eljefe80
I had issues with a noisy compressor that was given to me...it is a 2hp 6gallon tank ... i could only use it at certain times because of the noise and vibrations....now i just got this one which is pretty darn sweet....twin piston air tank auto shut off.... well here is the link plus it came with an airbrush named the peak x-3.... which is very similiar to an eclipse bcs ...with this new compressor i have been able to airbrush past midnight until the early morning..... http://www.bearair.com/prodinfo.asp?number=120320

thank you guys very much for the replies...i went with some of your advice and bought me an Iwata revolution...it is sweet...i like it alot...a little different feel than the VL but i think i can get used to it..if feel more like a pencil instead of a marker... and i love to draw... i went and bought me an airbrush compressor at harber frieght and do have to say that its quiet enough for the appt. but i think im going to have to go for the next size up...

can only get 21 psi with this thing and am needing to thin the paint bigtime and its looking transparent...its createx so I KNOW I KNOW... but i just have to finish what i have left.. going to use for practice.

thanks for listening and helping
