Talking Hope no one thinks less of me..

I bought a knock off.. (I'm so ashamed.. )

After reading everything I could get my hands on, I decided Iwata Gravity feed was the way to go.

So I searched on the internet.. about $100 for a good one ordered in..
My second glitch is that my wife is out of town this weekend and I can work uninterrupted.. That just means I don't have the time to order one.
So I searched local..
Only place that had one (1) was Hobby Lobby and they wanted $150 for it.
I hit every single pawn shop in town looking for *any* sort of pre-owned AB..
No luck..

I finally dropped into the little paint store where I have bought paint for my motorcycles in the past and the old man happened to have one..

As best I can tell its an off brand, but its dual action (I believe its a paasche knock off) and for the $41 price tag, I didin't think I could go wrong..

http://www.etoolcart.com/browseprodu...-ATD-6849.HTML

Wish me luck..
I'll post pictures of my work at the end of the day..

You have to start somewhere Faxy. I had a paache, vega, and a badger before I ended up with an iwata(s). Now I just happen to get a harder-steenbeck focus AB in my possesion and it seems to be a little hot rod. The H-S's are alot more affordable than the iwatas. The performance seem to be evenly matched. I still really like the iwatas.

Well..
It all ended badly..

I didin't even get to use it..

I got my surfboard started with my big guns and pulled out my AB to start the detail stuff.. and it went horribly wrong..

My AB would blow air, but no material was coming out.. But it was blowing bubbles back into the cup.
So I took it apart to see if something needed tightened up..

Thats when I heard a "clang" on the floor..
My trigger is gone..
I have searched for it for almost three hours now. Its gone and crying won't bring it back..

Bad thing is, I was painting on my back porch and I dont know if it bounced into the grass or fell between the porch slats or what..

I can probably order the new part(s), but as for today.. I'm done..

Its a sad, sad day..

If you have one, try dragging a magnet through the grass where you think you may have lost it. You might just get lucky .....

And what a fantastic result you have achieved.

It is not always about the quality of the equipment, The passion of the person using the equipment counts for a great deal.

The finer quality equipment can only assist in making the job somewhat easier.

Well done Faxx.

BTW.. Thank you to whoever posted this picture of their skateboard..
It was (obviously) the inspiration for my surfboard.

You guys sure know how to make a fellow feel good after a rough day.
I was just sick yesterday after that happened to my brand spanking new AB.

There is hope.
I have found a distributer on e-bay that sells my airbrush.
I have an e-mail into them asking if I buy a new one from him if he will throw in the parts needed to repair mine.. If it works out the way I'm hopeing, I'll end up with two.

Worst case senerio, I buy another $41 AB and chalk it up to experience.

For using the AB you used it looks pretty damn good!
I've never seen an aerosol AB and I wouldn't know what it looks like but if you can do what you have done with this surf board just wait until you get goin' with your new AB's.
I still think you did a good job and most people would have given up.

Nice job!

For future reference, if you go to the HobbyLobby site, they usually have a 40% off coupon you can print out and use against their over priced airbrushes.

Now you can't say that anymore..
The big round thing at the top is an adapter so you can hook your AB to what I believe is a can of freon..

I believe I paid $2.99 for my entire set up..

I just won an e-bay auction for another AB identical to my new one..
I'll be back up and going shortly! Minor set back.. No worries..

Well done Faxxxy,

That is great work, and the brush you used looks like a basic badger hobby airbrush, usually used for spraying RC body shells.

I have one, it cost me £9.99 in the UK.

You did good with that AB.

Then I should be thanking you..

I'm glad you like the funky rocks.. They were kind of an accident..
I placed the stencil of the man and woman too high. The man was fine, but the woman was standing a quarter inch above the ground.
I grabbed my AB and my rock stencil and totally forgot I had lightened the black in my AB to make grey seagulls.. OOps..
