Default Home depot compressors

I've seen some rather large tank compressors at home depot for a pretty good price. I was wondering if these were compatible with airbrushing? If so, it would make my life easier.

thank you for looking and I appreciate the help!

im shoppign for a compressor too.

really you need to know the specs.

the most important number is the CFM, now i use my compressor for clearcoatign and airbruishing, so anytjhign abouve 9CFM is good for me.

theres alot of personal preference when it coems to compressors to eb honest. i like a big 50 litre bad boy, but i can hapily use a 5 litre little jobbie, it just means it looses pressure quicker, and fiills up more often.

the biggest problem you MAY find buying such air suipplies from home depots is the fittings / attachments. ive had one in the past and they used a VERY weird quick release type fitting. which took a day of drivign around to find a supplier ! lol

I have a 26 gallon campbell hausfeld ac, I use it for my air tools up to 90 psi, and can run the regulator down to practically nothing for airbrushing. home depot also deals in Husky brand which is made by CH also. it is a good reliable unit

well i suppose and dont take my word for it just as long as it has a regulator and a moisture trap u should be fine but you also gotta take for account is what type of work will u be useing it for
for example i work off a mini sprint jet by iwata gives me upto about 85-90 psi give or take but so far i only do t shirts and an occasional foamy board but i would like a better one and another thing is i also do my work in my kitchen and sometimes late night so when i do upgrade i have to also think about noise ratio not to disturb anyone hope this helps u out

Likw zero said. as long as you can regulate the presser down to where you need it then you'll be fine. I have a portal cable thats a 60 gal. and I use it for both the pray guns and airbrush. Also have a mini comprssor that sucks butt. creates to much moister.

jsut make sure its future proof is what im gonna add.
as i said i use mine for a full size spray gun AND airbrussh.

so if your paintign bijkes and helmets etc you may want to invest in soemthign a little bigger / higher CFM

Welp all I need it for is painting RC cars, but the problem is I cant figure out what kind of compressor / airbrush would be good for that. So If someone could tell me I would be forever greatful. Finding that info is very tough.

All of you have said very important points for compressors. I have a Hammerhead Shark. The reason is I live in a townhome that is very small.
Since I spray just Comart and Createx at low pressure it works fine.

Here are a few things I may add, most of you may know this , but it may save you from the dreaded taking it back to the store.
Some of my own things that I have expierenced the last years.

When considering a compressor ( I learned the hard Way)

1 Super quiet compressors for a little one can cost as much as a big one.
2 Is your compressor one that uses oil or is it oil less???
3 oil less ones are usually loud
4 check the PSI (pounds per square inch) and SCFM (square cubic feet per minute) meaning I think 5 psi at 60 scfm is way cool for a airbrush or small touch up gun
Airbrushes even take half that I think
5 How many amps of power does the unit draw
you guys and gals will be suprised how much some of the big compressors differ in how much power they use.

6 Don't buy a little one gallon Campbell hasufeld from Wal mart or who ever.
When you use it and it gets warm it shuts off until it cools down. Like an overload. In Arizona it never comes back on LOLOLOLOL
7 I have to have a silent compressor becouse where I live, but I am always draining the tank all the time. This thing blows water. Its how they are made.

8Small quiet compressors most models can't be used for long periods of time as they too can over heat
9 If all of you are lucky enough for a bigger unit cool. just one last thing
Make sure you can get parts a few years down the road.
I hope it helps alittle. Not trying to bore ya guys. Just don't buy wrong one.
You will meet me at sears or home depot taking it back for a refund.LOLOLOL

HEY DEVILDUCK
wassup well i myself have done a few rc bodies i have a revo and a tmax abing backwards what a plesure lol anyway my suggestion is if thats all u want it for is a compresor u need dont have to be higher than 20 psi to shoot so a small compressor is fine if thats what u want it for if u plan to expand then go with a bigger one sprint mini jet is fine even for some tshirt work as for an airbrush a single action would be best i myself use iwata revolution(sar) single action for my rc cars but u can also go with a cypphen feed wicth is also a good idea but if u never airbrushed with a dual action then i would start off with a single action atleast for the rc cars and work between 5 and 20 psi hope that helps u out if u have any question u can let me know i have no problems in helping out
