Re: hi from KY
Ok, firstly welcome to the family. The atmosphere and the information here is fantastic.
Secondly, I know what KY is in a medical sense but where the heck is it, being an Australian means that I havn't heard most of these abreviations before.

Re: hi from KY
I live in the state of Kentucky in the United States of America :-) It's beautiful and rural and the weather is unpredictable. We get to see a little of every season here though, which I'm thankful for.
In other news, I received my VL in the mail tonight. I had failed to think of ordering any paint until a couple days after ordering the airbrush so I guess I'll get that early next week probably. So, just for fun I went to wally world (Walmart) and bought some general purpose acryllic black paint, mixed with a little water and played on a big box for a while. I've read repeatedly that I shouldn't start with paint I have to mix or reduce, but I did it anyway so fooey on yooey. It was an interesting experience.
I don't have a water trap or a regulator at the airbrush yet, so I sat next to my compressor and played with the regulator on it which sucks and is 60 ft of hose away from the airbrush. I used various viscosities of acryllic with varying pressures and varying degrees of success. All in all I had a fun time though trying out my daggers and dots and swirly patterns and loops and circles and you get the idea. Just in case you don't:
Oh yeah, I picked up some cheap stencils too in the craft section just to play with. That wasn't nearly as fun though as trying to make a good dagger, haha. Who woulda thought that little tapering line would be such a challenge?
Anyway, thanks in advance for all the help and good advice that you're going to give me that will eventually turn me into an uber-artist-master-guru that will steal all your high paying contracts for airbrush work, hehe. As you can see you should already be sweating bullets.

Re: hi from KY
haha,
on ya Bray, it is true that in Australia, Sydney is a busy place, i don't think there is anywhere near 80% of the population there (even though those Sydney ppl think there is). One thing I find amazing is that in any movie it is always Sydney that gets the bullet, thinking that Sydney is our capital, totally off the mark! our capital is Canberra and if anyone decided to blow it up i'm sure most of AUS would be very happy, thats if they can find their way around the damn place.
hehe..
take care guys

Re: hi from KY
I figure that 80% was wrong glad that you understand
it stand to reason that aus. had got more than 1 town ,correct me if I am wrong but don't aus have capitals in every state,is Canber the capital over the other capitals

Re: hi from KY
yes brother, just like in the US and other places, each state and Territory have their own capital city with Canberra in the ACT (Australian Capital Territory) as the capital city of AUS, just like Washington DC is I guess.
And there is no way on earth I would take anything other than with a smile and a good laugh, we're all family here from all over this wonderful globe. If we can't share a joke or laugh at ourselves and eachother something would definatly be wrong.
keep the ink flowing guys, it's all good.

Re: hi from KY
You aint funny at all rowie
Theres nothing like throwing in an aussie history lesson ay fella.
I actually remember back in i believe grade 2 where i was being taught about the states and territory. Back in the old days... it seems like it was just last weekend, well perhaps the weekend before. hehe.
The thing i find amusing in the states here is that the majority of americans that i have met are intimidated by australias animals (bugs, snakes and such).
I think its the same everywhere one travels, there is always something that wants to creep on you or check you out. Life is grand

I seem a group that was showing snakes at the mall ,NOBODY would touch the snakes until I show them that snakes were safe to touch, most of the people that live a rural life or work fields and forests don't play attention to bugs or snakes except for their safety

I agree with you bray. Unless one has come into contact with an unusual creepy crawly often, they will usualy steer clear of the animal/insect in fear of the unknown. Trust me man, there are some things in the states that i wont want to pick up or examine too closely either.
Yesterday i was trimming my father inlaws shrubs along his back fence when i spotted what i think is poison ivy. I have never been educated with this plant (except what others have told me to identify it) so i didnt push my luck. Better to leave it blow in the breeze i thought and go on with my own business.

Re: hi from KY
Well, you have a good point bray. Lucky for me i have no animals except my south american possum that lives upstairs in a terrarium.
When my son becomes old enough to walk and hide from his dad, than that will be another story.
Hopefully he can show his old man what the art of airbrushing means one day.
