Re: help
If you can swing it a subscription to the online magazine would be very helpfull. Lots of helmet how-tos as well as most any other surface you might want to paint!

Re: help
air nutt,,man you need to see the label on the helmet,,i was telling a sales rep i was painting some kids plastic helmet and i was talking about heating it and clearing it,,the guy laughed,, he said SOME HELMETS WILL buckle due to a chemical change that occurs with the paint and the helmets make,,like it will be weak,,so if your doing a hockey helmet,,it will turn brittle if its a certain brand,,so double check your labels,,im not sure if i explained it right,,example he said some guy recently did a snow mobile helmet and it actually caved in,,i guess it was not durable to the heat gun?? not sure if that is what made it cave in,,am i rambling,,trying to explain ,,anyone jump in,,YOU HAVE TO POST IT TOO,,

Re: help
I agree with X, watch the brand you're dealing with. I did a cooper hockey helmet and the paint just doesn't stick to the the thing. I finally got it cleared and it looked ok, but I won't paint another cooper helmet anytime soon.
Also as aixguy said, there are great how to's with the script. They walk you through the whole process for just about any surface, specs on products, everything you need. You could spend a fortune in time or energy surfing the web, chasing down stuff, with Dons stuff it's all there in 1 place and they work, no screwing around with how to's that may or may not work or products that don't work as expected. It's well worth the small investment for the value.
For me it's the best money I've spent on this.

Re: help
wash it with warm water and soap
scuff it with a medium scott brite pad
wash it again with warm water or windex even
dry it
lay your design out
paint it per the tech sheet of the paint product you are using
clear it with two part clear
what kind of paint are you using?
