Default Helmet Question:Sketching?

I am Doing my first helmet and I want to do it fairly intricate with shielding and freehand but I fell it would be very helpful to sketch design on helmet first
. What type of pencil should I use that can be painted over.

I thank you very much. I was hoping someone would say stabilo was ok.

I'll second that stabilo. They're great cuz they come in different colors, depending on the color of your project. (Like white stabilo on a black helmet so you can actually see what you're doing.) Just don't press too hard. Use the lightest mark you can get away with, especially if you're using a waterbased paint like Auto Air.

I've also used that skinny vine charcoal to lay in key reference points. Blows off when you pass over it with the airbrush.

I'll third the Stabilos! I love them, and have found that I use black, red, white, and yellow the most, but I also keep a blue one around. BONUS: I also use them for the tiniest of details after airbrushing my smaller decals - like lines between skull teeth. For the amount of time it takes me to draw those quick lines between the teeth with a Stabilo, it's not worth pulling out a 3 hair brush and painting the lines in!
